MemberQuite frankly, we haven’t seen any DESIRE from Tom. Granted, he hasn’t been given a whole lot of time, but surely there’d be SOMEone, female or male, that caught Tom’s eye and made him a little…anxious, if you know what I mean. He’s 17 or 18 years old. Even if the hormones that normal human teenagers deal with are now gone in his demon body, there should at least be the habit of thinking about sex a lot. So far, nothing. In fact, the only time he even acknowledges his…what do humans call it, a tallywacker? Way back in book one, when he was examining his body for the first time, and when he finally realized he was walking around naked, in front of a girl. Ever since then, there’s been zero sexual desire. Can he even get an erection any more? I mean, has he even tried?
Kind of makes it difficult to find a love interest, if you have no desire for love or intimacy.

MemberYou know, I’m not a big fan of audio books, generally. I’m visually focused, so I tend to tune out sounds if I’m concentrating. It usually means I have to go back and re-listen to things if I’m doing anything but listening.
But after hearing some of his audio samples, I’m going to have to get Book 1 just to check it out. It’s going to be good, no doubt about it.
Gelcube
MemberJust FYI for people who might have the same issue…
I couldn’t get the audio companion to work in my Kindle app. Amazon says you’re supposed to be able to swap back and forth between the written book and audio book directly from the Kindle app, but I don’t have the icon they say I’m supposed to have. I was able to BUY the companion from my Kindle app (menu > Discover > Audio Upgrades) so I didn’t have to jump through hoops. Other than scrolling through the 529 audio upgrades available for books in my Kindle library, that is. Amazon REALLY needs a search function right there.
However, I downloaded the free Audible app, logged in with my Amazon username, and the book was in my Audible library. Downloaded the book this morning, and started listening through the Audible app just fine. Sounds great so far!

MemberThe Dark Lord’s Handbook LOOKED interesting, but it didn’t live up to it’s expectations with me.
Unconventional Heroes…I read the first one, but not sure why I didn’t read the second.
Gelcube
MemberWell, I still like the Overlord scenario, just because he’s devious, underhanded, and powerful. Doesn’t seem to care too much about beings other than HIS people. Though he does have loyalty to his underlings and those he has use for.

Member
Back to the topic of love interests, did anyone else notice something between “Sir Samwell” and Sir Lady Serah?
Ooooh, yeeeeah! That one will be interesting. I also noticed Tamarin and Vaselle getting a little chummy. It was kind of cute, actually.
As each book goes on, though, I feel more and more sorry for Tom. I’m not even talking romance, here, just a chance to get his pineapple pitted. Or is that apple peeled? What is that thing humans say? Some fruity thing. :-k

Member
I do think that Tom’s libido has been going a bit too low, but that’s probably because he doesn’t have a focus for it, and he’s also very stressed out at the moment. He’s been having existential crises, which for someone trapped in their head, as he often is, such crisis tend to have a libido suppressing effect.
That could be very entertaining later, though. After all, that “libido suppressing effect” is almost like twisting a rubber band. Sure, you can keep twisting it tighter and tighter, but eventually either that rubber band will snap, or all the tension will be released in one huge twisting, twirling, dervish of release! :d/ Gelcube
Member
I get tentacle porn, it’s pretty much the basis of love with Melissance and her hubby, but do Oozes have tentacles? Pseudopods, yes, of course.
A warm dry jelly? That seems rather odd.
Are pseudopods that amenable for the necessary hand gestures to cast spells?
Also, does it speak telepathically? Or exude vocal cords and pump air through them?
They call them tentacles, but they’re pseudopods. And apparently, gestures in this world are only for a mental framework. If you really concentrate, you don’t need them.
The speaking was a blessing from a goddess…so…MAGIC! Deus Ex Machina!
Frankly the MC grew too quickly, I thought. Especially the speaking.
Gelcube
MemberWell, Tizzy, you do have four arms and four legs, and so many things are simple for you. Maybe that’s what they mean?
Gelcube
MemberIf I remember correctly, Antefalken used one of Damien’s balls to record the battle. I just figured Damien would end up with a copy at some point.
You KNOW copies of that will be in high demand!
Gelcube
MemberYou know, that’s not the first book I’ve read that particular trick in. I can’t for the life of me remember WHICH book I read it in, but I remember it.
Really nasty when you think about it. Humans sure are inventive figuring out ways to DIS-figure each other.
No, that was hot wire mesh to the hands. That book was knives under the skin, not skinning. Maybe that book? No, that was just beatings and sleep deprivation. Which book was it? Gelcube
MemberDoomalogues? What are those? How intriguing! Something that gets powered up, and D’Orced? Possibly some kind of soul storage for Orcs that haven’t been D’Orced yet?
Gelcube
MemberNo problem, Tizzy! It was fun.
Hmm, as rules-bound as these Oorstemothians are, they’ll probably notice, but I don’t care. The taste wasn’t too bad, either. I’ve had worse. Lawyers taste very bitter.
Hey, maybe I can go back and get a couple more! I’m sure there are more people there than they need. I’ve been meaning to do some pickling.
Gelcube
MemberOh, oh! What if Tom and Talarius go to find Melissance at Smody’s place, and the Inferno ends up there?
If T-A-G wants AOD to span a greater period of time, some of those pieces in play are going to have to slip their time tables or something.
Reading THH again…
Gelcube
MemberYeah, I guess magic would work a better interface than tech in most instances.
Still, having the internet in your head all the time would be incredibly distracting. Unless, of course, you have a Pentium in there!
You should tell Tom about your forum posts. Since he’s from a mid-tech Earth, he may even know what your talking about. Maybe you can teach him how, and he’ll post here too!
