You know, something else just occurred to me. We’ve speculated about Talarius in all this. But what about Tom? He definitely has a White Knight thing going on. There’s no way he’d let her stay a prisoner knowing she’s being tortured.

    SO…

I’ve been thinking that Talarius would be the one to drag Tom into this. But what if TOM hears about it first, and drags Talarius into it? Especially if he hears about it before Asmodeus and Lilith set up their trap? Tom hasn’t been very proactive yet, but I’d really like to see this happen. Tom hearing about the damsel in distress, and heading out to save her. He might not even have her name, and thus Talarius wouldn’t even know who they were after until he SAW her.

    Ooooooo. Dun-dun-DUUUUUUUNNNNNN!!!

I’m thinking that it’s not such a matter of power, but mental flexibility. Not every demon can shapeshift. From what’s been said so far, many demons have the power and ability, but can’t seem to get their minds wrapped around being another individual. Now add in being another GENDER which you have no mental reference for, and it becomes exponentially more difficult.

So, to answer your question, I’d think it’d be possible, but not likely. The individual in question would have to be VERY mentally flexible, have the requisite power, and have a very stable self-identity to be able to switch back and forth. Kind of narrows the field down a bit.

Tom could probably do it, but I’m thinking it would cause a lot more problems with him getting laid. :-“
Wonder if there are any planes that are the opposite of my current one history wise? Like a never defeated roman empire. Or America losing any wars they won revolutionary or civil etc.
Well, I’ve glimpsed planes like that. I’ve seen the one about the Roman Empire never falling. But the other one? I haven’t seen it, but really the opposite would be the Native American Nations invading Europe.

…now THAT would be an interesting story.

Latest speculation is that Jar-Jar was actually either the true Sith master behind Palpatine, or his closest advisor/pupil. He did all those Force feats, and was in the background for a lot of Palpatine’s scenes, not to mention that nothing Jar-Jar did in the first movie was actually contradictory to Palpatine’s long term plans.

Personally, I like that idea better than he’s just stupid, yet SOMEHOW manages to bumble around and kill everyone put against him without so much as an injury.

SO…as I was saying before, I’m really looking forward to the little stew that’s bubbling in Murgatroy. We have Jenn, Helga, Beragamos, Stevios, The Cloud Crew, Gastropé, Damien, the orc shamans, and the Grand Bitch herself. What a lovely, lovely mess this is going to be.

What if Meat Maker and the rest of Wargtown (or at least a good chunk of them) want to swear allegiance to Tom when Tal Gor walks into town…with Gastropé? Oh, I SO want to see Gastropé explain this!

Speculating about this will be almost as much fun as speculating about what will happen in the Courts when they find out about the battle.

    So…

    To get this straight…

There’s a volcano somewhere on Astlan that’s about to re-awaken with a connection to Mt. Doom? And it could be anywhere in Astlan? Like…say…Freehold? Or somewhere else just as amusing? Like Turelane or Oorstemoth?

Wouldn’t it be strategically disadvantageous for that kind of objective information to fall into enemy hands?

Currently, Lilith can only debrief the survivors who dug themselves out of the mud, since any overwatch would have been ineffective because of the rather surprising weather conditions in Abyss. Any information provided by the survivors would be rather patchy and concentrate on the most notable events.
Actually, Tizzy already let it leak that the whole army pretty much got captured, and in THH, it was mentioned that Tom is going to have to adjudicate who gets destroyed permanently, sent packing back to Lilith, and/or is allowed to join the Forces of Doom. So a debrief may be a while.

And propaganda is always useful. A carefully edited balling of the battle could cause all kinds of havoc in several different directions.

Ooooooh, great call! Haven’t thought of that one.

Wonder if that’s why NO ONE who’s been alive back then even MENTIONS the Concordenax?

So, in THH, Exador says, “Actually, things are much simpler now; there is nothing left to hide. The gloves are coming off. We are going to seize the book from Lenamare and the Council even if we have to flatten Freehold to do it.”

This sounds as if all three are about the gear up and flatten Freehold sooner, rather than later. At the same time, The Inferno is preparing to depart for the Abyss, and the Nimbus is closing in. Lilith is currently reeling from her defeat, but she was using secret resources, not her public resources, so she’s only inconvenienced. While timing is still nebulous, it appears there could be up to three assaults at around the same time, in different places. Exad’oh and company on Freehold, The Inferno on the Courts of Chaos, and Lilith on Mount Doom.

If Ramalama and friends attack Freehold in force, I can see Damien requesting support and help from Tom. Maybe Vaselle as well? I doubt Tom would be able to throw away Vaselle like Orcus did his warlocks. I doubt he’d send all his forces to help, but a few hundred D’orcs could make a difference.

If the Inferno approaches the Courts, they’ll likely try to serve warrants, finding out about Tom and Mount Doom. There’ll be questions on whether they’ll treat with Sammael or Lilith. Could go a couple of different ways there, but end result is them headed toward Doom as well. Lilith is likely to coordinate an attack at the same time. Of course, they could just start attacking, in which case, they’d go up against everyone there at the time. Likely deadly to them, but I don’t see that happening at the moment.

The Nimbus. That’s an odd one. It appears they have a link there in Murgatroy, and may be able to cross over to the Abyss from there. Not sure, though. Guess it depends on if they force or trick Gastrope’ to summon Tizzy. Or they could continue their search for Bess. Really sounds like they’re zeroing in on Mount Doom, though.

Speaking of the Nyjyr Ennead, they just moved some forces, so they may be on the move as well. But will they focus on Astlan, or Tierhallon? Either way, it seems Bess and Tom are starting to circle each other, so they may be meeting up soon, possibly dragging Doom into their conflict.

And then there’s Djinnistan. Exfoliant just declared war on the entire djinn race, as the djinn re-established relations with Doom. Will the djinn focus on Freehold, or Doom? I think for them, Doom is lower priority item. Exadoofus made himself very unpopular with them, so likely they’ll concentrate more on Freehold.

    Argh, so many questions!

Now, all that being said, the ability to create an adhoc form and hold it for any length of time without it shifting or melting or turning red and horny is an impressive thing. However, he didn’t have to hold it that long, and only talarius had a close up view, and might not have been paying attention if things like eye color/shape of nose were sort of fluid from moment to moment.
Ah, but he managed to hold the shape even after getting stabbed in the gut by Gutthis Morthis, or whatever it was called.

Ok, quick question. Do the Denubians require it to be Denubian Choco-Coffee(TM), or Denubian Choco-Coffee™?

Virgin or not, they all taste like chicken.

Yes, we tend to get pieces cut off and just grow another. If I see anymore of the little buggers around here, I’ll absorb them, too! As a species, we’re not the most…cooperative. Still, occasionally a couple of us will end up meeting, and we’ll swap pseudopods. A little slimy pseudopod action…mmm. I’m sure you’ve seen those moving pictures on the internet. There’s a Rule 34 for everything!

Tom will take some management to get him to conquer the Astlan plane, but we have faith in you, Tizzy!

You know, Mikey, I was re-reading ITA, and even though anecdotal evidence suggests Rupert and Tom are related, there’s nothing that directly CONTRADICTS your theory, either.

When Rupert is talking to Tom about his childhood, he talks about how he had always been told he’s a demon-child, so the thought was in his head. Then he started changing at puberty, but he never let himself completely change. He didn’t know exactly how he looked as a demon. His mother gave a description of his father, but on her deathbed, well after he’d started changing, but before he’d completely changed. So yes, according to your theory, he could have influenced his own demon form! Nothing so far (that I know of) directly opposes this. That would be interesting. Rupert not actually being related to Tom at all.

Oooh! Something else I hope we see in AOD.

In ITA, when Jehenna and Lenamare are in Freehold trying to find out where The Book is, Jehenna mentions that Lenamare could send his other demons on a wide scan search, and Lenamare gives a listing of his more reliable demons. “I’ve only got two thirds, three seconds, and three firsts.”

Will we get to meet these other demons in AOD, or the short stories? I wonder if he will send one of his other demons to find Tom? I still say Tom can break those master/slave links. What if he broke Lenamare’s links to his other demons? Just stole them from him?

Regardless, it’d be interesting to get another account of Lenamare from another demon’s viewpoint.

Ooooo, another convert to the Church of the Dark Lord Tommus! Welcome to the electronic communications nexus to the Abyss!

Be sure not to jostle Tizzy too much, or he may forget to keep prodding T-A-G to finish the next story/book.
