This lift would never work!

-Weight – I calculated the weight of the cables. Assuming that each cable is just 4 cm square in area cross section (very thin). A league lenght of cable would weight to almost 2 tons! With 6 cables we have about 10 tons total weight, which is about the weight of a large school bus or five cars. That is based on a calculation of thin metal cables… but the book says the cables are thick. If I double the thickness of the cable we quadruple the weight.

-Friction – It seems that the design includes the metal cables threaded through metal hoops, which means this two parts would rub together through the whole journey. You know you can make fire by rubbing two pieces of wood together after a while. This design create so much heat, people would have cooked as heat is conducted through the metals. The hoops would also emit hot sparks during the journey. A big fire hazzard by itself. Not to mention, the friction would soon wear the hoops.

-Contraction and Expansion of metal – Metals expands and contracts with heat. This is minimal but at such a long length of metal cables, the effect would be pronounced. Depending on how it was attached, it would become very loose during the day when it’s hot or become very taught (to the breaking point) at night when it’s cold.

And there are other more considerations but these three are big enough.

Well, I’m not very particular about dates, I don’t tend to tract them anyway. I just need a fuzzy indication of time, like a few days has past or it was about noon, etc. Though I think a very clear date and time should be stamped on important events like festivals, holidays, and birthdays. Would also be helpful if a more detailed date and time clues is given if there are time crucial events like meetings.

I was thinking that they are darker blue because they are supressing or hiding their mana. The others like the green one are bright because they don’t. Can’t really say what happened though.

Color blind? Also does the mirror superimpose those dots over a view/background like a photoshop layer or it show it on a blank/black background? Also, why is it called a mirror? Does it reflect? If so, shouldn’t they see their own relection then?

Well, the mirror might be a very old device that many of its function is forgoten.

Knight’s horses are often trained to respond only to its owner/rider. The others would have problem with it. They had to get ready to get kicked and bitten.

There is still marked difference, though I think it is because the book art is less polished compared to the work in the deviantart page. More sketchy.

We are talking about the cover. His figure just cut a stong impression.

So it was intentional. Still, even with less definition, he still stands out. He cut a bold shape in the front.

Some fuzzy time clues would help. Let them observe that a few days had passed, or that they are travelling for about a week, etc.

Also confusing is that the time in the Abyss and the time is Astlan doesn’t seem to be consistent. Sometimes they flow at the same speed sometimes it seems not. Antefalken’s rendezvou in the Absyss is specially confusing to me as the time in Astlan and Abyss doesn’t seem to syncronize and very little indication of time is given.

I’m glad that there is no romance and love interest. It would have been unnatural given the situation. And what is with the people nowdays, they constantly demand love interests and romance. Many fantasy books i read have this very contrived romance going on.

Seems Book II would have lots of exciting stuff.

There was an indication that time passes at the same speed in Astlan and Abyss. That is when Edwyrd depends on Tizzy to ‘call’ him from the Abyss through their ‘connection’ so that Edwyrd could have a target for opening a gate. Maelen and Tizzy was able to syncronize preperly.

Uh… I like the original blurb more. This one sounds a bit awkward.

    Warm cola no like.

    @Tizzy

No it won’t be fizzy. Air in the water can’t escape so no fizz develops. It had to be cold for maximum fizz.

Hmmm. The Artist might not need to know the title, but they do need to know where it goes. It is actually better if the artist know how the type would go so that the artist could make the artwork flow better with it.

It would be fun making up titles.

Tridents are used for cathcing fish.

From what I can remember, Satan is depicted to use it, or maybe it was pitchforks. But I don’t see any depiction of demons using tridents, or pitchforks. It doesn’t seem related to them.
