Do you know how many types of fear there are and how it influences the taste? o:)

MemberOr does the magic of the summoning superimposes the language of Astlan upon the summoned including their name? It certainly seems to be a common theme in the stories I read about travel between universes. Than again, the occassional language confusion is fun, it gets boring really quickly, so I suspect any mage worth his or her salt will very quickly design translation spells 😉

MemberI think on this world, at least in more organized countries, the true names are numbers. At least, if certain people get a hold of those, they can do some pretty nasty stuff to your life…
Madfox11
MemberI had pegged you more like a Ulysses kind of demon 😉

MemberThe sample of demons in the book seems to be a bit low to form any opinion on the general sanity of demons. From what little we have seen though, I did not get the feel that demons have a tight control over their emotions. Their lack of empathy, their rage when dealing with the accursed masters and similar things seem to suggest they are neither more nor less sane than humans.
Note btw that complete rationality is also a form of insanity. Empathy and emotions do perform a function for an individual to survive within a group, let alone with creatures of other groups.

MemberAntefalken, Exador and Lenamare. I am especially curious about the whole theft of the book thing. Sounds like an interesting story…

MemberConsidering the whole damsel in distress and become my heir when you kill the dragon type of thing, I doubt that dragons are less of a draw to knights in shining armor than demons. In fact, most demons are under the firm control of the accursed masters, dragons are not (or at least I don’t think so). The rabid reaction to Tom is not just because he is a demon, but because a silly priest is convinced Tom is the leader of a demonic invasion*. Finding hundreds of demons amongst the Wizard Council did not help. If people expact a dragon invasion I am sure the reaction would be worse 😉
* I suspect most demons would find the story incredibly funny, at least those demons who love a bit of chaos and with some luck the accursed masters might be less likely to summon them in the future.

MemberDo you need to litterally breed demons or could you actually create them through magical modifying existing demons (in books the far more common way to create those living siege engine types)?
Madfox11
MemberI don’t know, really huge demons do wonders as living siege engines and spreading terror on battlefields. I certainly have read about such types, although they do tend to be the stupid types and they are often created and/or bread by fellow demons and mad wizards.
Note btw that if getting children is the prime goal, then you actually would prefer male scubi. Sure, they might not be summoned as much (which I really wouldn’t bet on since in general at least on Earth woman tend to be really frowned on when having sexual relations beyond that of their husbands, and no scubi is going to blathermouth), but one male can impregnate a lot more woman then the other way around. Myths on low-magic worlds also tend to depict women more often as demon summoners, but that I blame squarely on male propaganda 😉

MemberHey now, thieves whether heroes or not are always prosecuted by from whomever they stole. It is just that the hero usually kills their targets and then takes the loot. Few creatures can complain from the grave 😉

Member
Yes, armies are on the move…just not clear where they should be moving and who the enemy actually is…
But don’t worry, the confusion only gets worse…
I got the distinct impression that most of the armies agreed on the fact that Tom is the enemy. The Rod might have misunderstood the reason, but that ultimately does not matter to them. Tom still is a powerful demon after all and he did just defeat their Champion. Oorstemoth on the other hand knows why and it is true in a fashion. Tom did destroy that ship of theirs in defense of a criminal. Tom might want to belief it is all a misunderstanding, but I think he is a bit naive.
I am also not too sure you want them to get that book. I doubt the demons would like it if that book end up in the Rod’s hands.

You do know there is this group of royal Nigerian wizards out there always trying to summon people and entrap them. Seems like you’d be fighting off those spells all the time…
I never understood how people could fall for those. Now some of the Russian ones that make their summon appear to be from a legit source, those I can understand. Mind you, who would just give their true name if asked by a random face when surfing? 😉

Member
Maybe a better description would be comic relief. Really you are more comic that intimidating. Jenn isn’t even scared of you. Well, she is a fried of sorts but being a demon, not being feared is quite…
Handy setup before you trick them into doing something stupid or evil?

Hmmm? From what I can gather, gods doesn’t need anybody to worship them.
I got that feeling based on the whole god-pool discussion. Those are filled with the mana from worshippers, aren’t? Seems to be the thing they need to be a god instead of a powerful creature like a demon lord…
