Did someone says astrophysics survey?
I had forgotten that…been several years since I read the series….just picked it up again to re-read…

Although I do remember the Captain blasting music through the hull to throw off the sonar of all the other subs from other countries in the area when transitioning from sea to air…..

I don’t think that they can open a portal because it was damaged by the gravity cannon blast…..I don’t know if they managed to fix it…

    Chapter 131 – The Inferno
“So perhaps it would be best that we now return too Oorstemoth for repairs?” Sir Samwell suggested.
Chancellor Alighieri sighed, before replying. “If you had been paying attention, you would have realized that our trans-dimensional vortex manipulation engine was damaged, several runes were cracked along with forty-three other issues in regards to the engine. We are not able to shift planes until we resolve all of those issues.”
“And there are numerous other related issues that also have to be repaired before we can travel the multiverse again.” Captain Cranshall added.
“Not the least of which are our geomantic drives.” Stevensword stated. “The Abyss is, you must admit, Sir Samwell, a very precarious place and without our full mobility, we are but perched pigeons.”
Sir Samwell twisted his lips and grimaced. “So, we are stuck here for a bit.” He sighed. “Well, I’ve been stuck here for fourteen hundred years; I suppose another hundred or two won’t be that bad.”

The Inferno has been a hanger queen for 20 years as it was being built…..

The Oorstemothians being Osrstemothians….wouldn’t it have need to go through “air trials” (similar to sea trials for ships) before being taken out on a mission…..

Considering that no one knew that it would be needed to go to the Abyss – first scene in bk3 is only DOA + 4

so, from a timeline point of view – wouldn’t they need more time to prep the ship and do at least some trials or if they needed to take it out in a hurry, I would be expecting there to be some glitches occurring as they are ironing out the bugs during bk3

The Inferno is v1.0 – so I would be expecting there to be bugs / issues occurring, considering they are taking into an environment that none of the designers / builders have ever been too….only read about – and we all know what user requirements are like when defining what they think they need as opposed to what they actually require to work

EDIT: For some reason the Inferno remind me of the sub that was converted into a space ship in the book Vorpal Blade – Looking Glass, Book 2 by John Ringo & Travis Taylor – there were a lot of issues for the crew taking the ship into space – things the builders / designer had not thought about

Why does it have to be a secret – Tom could just come out and say that he is leaving someone in the command post as his eyes and ears….

plays into the hold idea that he doesn’t trust Tiernon’s crew – which they already know when it was first suggested that they put a bunch of avatars on the Isle of Doom

EDIT: Just thinking, if Vaselle is left in the Command center as “Lord Orcus'” eyes and ears – what happens when Teragdor runs into him????

Question: In bk2, Tiernon’s crew investigated the mana theft and determined how it was done – then changed the setup so it couldn’t be done again….so how can Tom use the same method to steal EM back and steal mana again????

IMO is should be “dragged” – every time I see “drug” in this context it’s like fingernails on a chalkboard [-o<

It depends on what you want bk4 to focus on….is it Talarius’ quest to save this lady love…and the fall out in Tiernon’s camp…..Exador’s siege of Freehold

if so, then clean up enough of the bad guys so that the people who normally live in the Citadel can take over and finish up…..just enough to get them ‘over the hump’ so to speak, of the big bads…….then if necessary, you can have check-in points during bk 4 with the Citadel to find out their progress

Can’t knock down the confidence of the people in the Citadel, by cleaning up all the mess – you will give them an inferiority complex

It would be interesting to get Crispin into the fight, but the only way I could see that happening would be to…

Tom contacts Vaselle telephathically at Mount Doom, once they find out that Exador is in the fight

Vaselle takes his portal to just outside Freehold

Vaselle goes into Freehold (through the wards) finds Crispin and Ranolf to inform them that Exador has been found

Vaselle would need to give Ranolf a cooling charm (I’m assuming that Ranolf would have to accompany Crispin through portals / planes as Crispin’s anchor)

Vaselle takes Ranolf and Crispin back through the portal to Mount Doom

Through the portal from Mount Doom to the Isle of Doom on Nysegard

Through the runic gateway from the Isle of Doom to the Citadel
A lot of steps….and requires a lot of trust on Ranolf side and on Tom’s side

But it would also get Vaselle into the big fight as well – too some extent without the high probability of getting killed

Also, this is a task that only Vaselle could do…..no one else could (considering that Tom is in the fight)

Might also be a good time for Ranolf to do a test run on his demon trap – which either fails or Exador escapes, or not

Although, Tom does have a handy prison that Tiernon has used before
He does indeed, but it is not clear yet if Sentir Fallon merits that. Thankfully for his anxiety, Sentir Fallon is not aware of this, as far as we know at least.

Net knows, we don’t know what he or Aod told Sentir Fallon to get him onboard.

But you can be sure that Net is going to be concerned about this.
Well, Sentir Falon would make a good ‘payment’ from Tiernon and the 5S for ‘over-due’ storage fees for the containment of their parents in Tartarus…..

I know that a lot of people have been wonder about what types of payments would be acceptable – I would think that the gang at Mount Doom would be willing to negotiate and accept one used avatar of Tiernon as payment

Murgatroy: Several hours earlier, DOA + 1, Shortly after lunch.

In the scene where Gastrope, Vaselle, Damien and the Orcs are having the discussion…..

Gastrope shook his head, “I’m not sure they are that bad, but they definitely seem to have went a bit off the rails when they learned of the D’Orcs.”

The term “off the rails” – this traditionally refers to a train wreck – eg. a train going off the rails

As Astlan is a low-tech high-mana world I doubt that they would have this saying….

but I’m fairly sure that Gastrope had never seen anything like that before – I would assume that most people had not…..so it wouldn’t be a common saying that Gastrope would use or that other people would necessarily recognize

No sure what an example leer is …. should this be “sideways leer” or “suggestive leer” or “sly leer”
