MemberEveryone else has to suffer the presence of teenage girls, why should your favorite characters be exempt?
Seriously though, Jenn is just lacking a stable, rational adult influence in her life, and she is trying to fill that role. I’d bet if you switched her and Tom he would act very much the same as her in that situation, if maybe a little less hysterical. If every adult around you tells you demons are evil, are you going to believe a demon and a couple of teens you just met, when they tell you they aren’t. Gastrope started coming around after talking to Damien, Jenn didn’t have any such conversation. Maybe when Hilda gets back…

MemberI was thinking that when Tiernon heres from Beragamos and sends in reinforcements, that this battle would be an excellent field test of the reversed Excrathadorus Mortis. He wanted to find out its capabilities, i cant imagine a situation that calls for an unlife slaying dagger more. Plus the potential for awkward moments this would cause could be so much fun

“Zeus and Hephaestus were both were both furious enough as it was over Orcus’s death.
Im thinking maybe one less “were both”

MemberI like to think that the author is being overly modest and not mentioning the upgrades to his translation spellware. He has gradually increased it’s efficiency in compensating for the excessive alliteration, and thereby reduced the risk of trauma to the language centers of the human(read non-lawyer/politician) brain.
Fiernon and Wylan had my eyes crossed and head pounding the first time i read their conversation.

MemberThe first time I re-read the opening of the doomalogue (after it was re-ordered), Walk, by the Foo Fighters was on the radio, and i found it surprisingly fitting to the scene, if not Tom’s entire experience in book 3.

MemberI felt okay with Talarius using the battle to take his mind off of everything, but maybe an encouraging word from Orcus just before Tom opens the gate.

MemberAfter all the holding back, and delaying, just having Tom open the gateway in the Citadel seems a little rushed. I feel like it just needs a small scene where Tom comes to a decision. The last thing he does before that scene is curl into a ball on his bed, then suddenly he is coming to the rescue.
Maybe while he is lying on the bed he could have another epiphany scene like the one in Grizzor Del where he accepts/embraces being a demon. Maybe this time he accepts if not embrace the possibility of being Orcus, and get up and tell his generals and Talarius to grab their gear.

MemberOne more thing i have alpha 3 ending right after the wedding party/Dis reveal. Beta0 has a few sections between this and the marked beginning of beta0 in the ToC. Minor i know but dont people to miss anything when just looking for the changed parts.

MemberHow about one of Hilda’s group of warriors? I can see her getting attached to them quite quickly, and then feeling guilty and powerless when one dies because she didn’t have the mana to heal them fast enough.

MemberIm having a hard time with nobody mentioning Orcus’s son as well. The only mention of a son was the prophecy which said Tom would have his son with him. Also no mention of him when discussing those lost with Orcus.
If the pheonix cycle taking so long with Tommus is explained by the effects of EM, was Dis killed the same way(assuming Rupert is Dis v2.0)?

MemberI dont understand how the family connections didnt come up in the earlier discussion of who the 5 had locked up. The scene bashed Eris as the original evil stepmother, while Orcus had an even closer relationship. Even if Phaestus was trying to avoid connecting Orcus and Eris, i cant see Tizzy staying quiet about such an important, and inflamatory bit of info.
Also Tom knowing and not saying anything could also push Talarius even farther around the bend after the big reveal.

MemberStorm lords start with the advantage, but Tom comes to the rescue too early atm because of their long setup, not pushing the advantage fast enough. Right now it seems like the SL stop to have a picnic while Tom is checking the mirror and having his moment.
If i was the SL I would start the Interdiction during the initial assault, after the fodder heads in, but before the heavy hitters, leaving little to no reaction time; zombie shock and awe. Right now its the forces from Doom that kick the battle off, seizing the initiative almost immediateley, when the battlefield should already be in chaos when they arrive thanks to the delay.
When the forces of Doom arrive and Proceed to give lessons on how shock and awe should be done(love the Doomboxes), it should be too late for the SL to bring in reinforcements/heavy equipment. The only recourse i see for the SL at this point would be more dirty tricks, already the key to their strategy. For example this version of the interdiction is based off of Lenamere’s wards, just like Freehold. Imagine all those avatars, demons, and d’orcs facing an expulsion, it could bring more drama to the battle while also providing a clue as to how the interdiction was set up, with both Hilda and Tom knowing the source of the expulsive effects.Burien
