So… just who is Orcus’ father?
BurienMemberSince the new version of the interdiction is based off of Lenamere’s wards, would someone who has been in them recognize his influence. I assume that is where Exador learned how they work, from being subjected to them. I know Tom might not have the experience to recognize a specific mages spells, but i would think Hilda might, and I cant see Beragamos not. Would Ruiden recognize either the wards or somehow sense Exador since he recently fought him, and how often do you see a meteor swarm thrown around.
Oh, has Ruiden been glowing non-stop since book 2 or what?
BurienMemberJust blame Tizzy, or TAG’s translation spellware 😉
BurienMemberThats why i was thinking about his drugged state after the D’orcing. Not saying its needed, just more like random thoughts. Like how calling it a musical made me think of Tom singing Let it Go when he freezes the abyss, and once you’ve thought it you cant unthink it.
BurienMemberMaybe a showdown with Exodar, Exodar might not believe the hype and wants to test Lenamere’s demon.
The SL took 1k years to prep for this attack on the CoL, of which i assume most of that prep is to properly age their troops, not prepare for every contingency. Exodar seems like a last minute add to their forces, and that they planned to attack with or without the Interdiction. I just think that if you have them gate-in their WMD, make it look like part of the plan, not just hot-swapping WMDs. Maybe Exodar had to tweak the spell ahead of time to allow on-plane links like runic gateways to work, and this is the loophole that Doom and the avatars are exploitng. That could also settle the Inferno link issue.
BurienMemberVampire dragon or maybe a classic Dracolich, they have some serious power, and probably more self control too. Maybe they only think those are zombie dragons.
BurienMemberIm not saying we need a happily ever after, but maybe just someone showing interest in the big guy.
With the way some characters/scenes are so casual about sex, i think a post d’orcing orgy would have been less awkward than the the impromptu musical.
BurienMemberWhile romance isnt entirely nessesary, and the story is strong without it, it is a part life and hafl the fun of fantasy is the hero getting the girl, even if which girl dosent matter. Otherwise Tom will end up like Conan sitting on his throne looking constipated and forever alone. Just something unsatisfying about that, dosent half to be this book, but by the end of the series it would be cool.
BurienMemberI wouldnt call her a tomboy for being a healer, and working with plants and flowers, just practical. Unless she was rich, or nobility I wouldnt expect her to obsess over her appearance or act really girly. If she was a tomboy i would expect more offensive magic, gravity spells since she is a thaumaturge, the only combat spell i recall her using was a non-leathal entanglement spell.
Most of the issues people have with Jenn can be blamed on her always having to be the reasonable, and responsible one. Now that she is away from Lenamere and Jehenna she will learn not everyone is as callous and reckless as they are. As it is she has just as much potential for character growth as Talarius, and Id like to see them both come around in this book.
BurienMemberI like the story lines that we have, but some things could be cut/condensed
-Amadeus reporting to Lilith -cut
-Gaius/Gadius bedroom scene -cut
-Inferno/Melisance contract negotiations -mention, then be done with inferno for the rest of the book
-Teregdor/Vaselle drinking games -shorten, save any awkwardness for the next morning w/ larger group
-Jenn tracking down Vaselle -cut
-Rupert/Ferog drinking games -cut
-Vaselle deploying/testing beacons -cut , just report the success in a meeting
-Nimbus peace talks -cut Trevin explaining the Alvar treachery, leave that for ZargvarstBurienMember-Amadeus reporting to Lilith -cut 10 unnecessary
-Gaius/Gadius bedroom scene -cut 8 boring/unnecessary
-Inferno/Melisance contract negotiations -mention, then be done with inferno for the rest of the book 10 all, but a mention for delay till next book
-Teregdor/Vaselle drinking games -shorten, save any awkwardness for the next morning w/ larger group 0 space
-Jenn tracking down Vaselle -cut 10 irritating, shes not his mom, hes with family, just makes her look bad
-Rupert/Ferog drinking games -cut 4 space fun but not needed, maybe drinks after meeting, to celebrate
-Vaselle deploying/testing beacons – 3 cut , save for the next book since it dosen’t see that much use in this one, early next book just have a tour of
q-branch style walk through Vaselles lab since he seems to be the new go-to guy for gadgets
-Nimbus peace talks – 2 cut Trevin explaining the Alvar treachery, leave that for Zargvarst – it makes Trevin look deceitful/complicit with the Alvar as it is. Let
Zargvarst call Ariel out, then Trevin confirm Ariel’s treachery at dinnerBurienMemberReggie seems to have adapted fine, I understand it is in his new nature, but that should only make Tom think about it more. It might not be a big deal in demon form, but in Edward form he should have more trouble with hormones being that he is a teenager as well. He definately needs to relax, and i can easily see in Doom telling him to get laid.
I have a hard time with Gastrope and Jenn just because he tried to kill her. His fireball hit a shield, Jehenna and Trisfelt are the only one I remember throwing up shields, and Trisfelt fried his attackers. Has Trevin given up on Gastrope? Her awkward flirting in book 2 was one of the parts i liked a bout the whole Nimbus story line. I would think he would have picked up a few admirers as well after his key part in beating the liches.
And if you think Jenn is bad, just find any teenage girl and hide her cell phone. Jenn will seem like a saint then.
BurienMemberWe made you have to delay beta1 again didnt we? ](*,)
BurienMemberI had noticed that book 1 had a Tom+Jenn feel, then book 2 Jenn+Gastrope felt a little forced. I dont see anything in this one except Gastrope’s constant fear of Jenn finding out how much he is hiding from her. Just too many trust issues to make that relationship work, I dont think it would ever not feel forced to me. Jenn just hasnt been around enough of the Toms poeple to find out how wrong she is about him. One good trip to doom could fix that, or the Astlan doomalogue when it opens.
BurienMember

I was thinking that when Tiernon heres from Beragamos and sends in reinforcements, that this battle would be an excellent field test of the reversed Excrathadorus Mortis. He wanted to find out its capabilities, i cant imagine a situation that calls for an unlife slaying dagger more. Plus the potential for awkward moments this would cause could be so much fun
I know. I thought the same.
Unfortunately, Iskerus somehow managed to ‘lose it’
Tiernon stole it from Iskerus.
Thats why I was thinking just send it with the reinforcements. Iskerus losing it and then seeing an avatar waving it around would be just one of the awkward moments i thought of.
