They didn’t so much as fix as overhaul their procedures so that problems like Tom stealing mana can be identified sooner and then a denial put in place The flaw still exists since they do not know how he did his masquerade.
However, a battle against unlife is a hectic thing and they are routing via avatars (while the interdiction was up) than the usual method. Since this is not SOP the ad hoc process still has vulnerabilities Tom can use. He is pretending to the Attendant Archon upon Nysegard. Her security is overseen by Beragamos who is fielding multiple requests. Then, mid-connection the interdiction does down and the connection is restored.
So Tom immediately takes the mana. No problem. Since it is being used to cleanse unlife and she was using that spell herself (so authorized) it probably won’t look suspicious.
IumeMemberWrong use of “final”. I mean, Talarius has to make a decision about what to do before he can begin the next arc of his life.
Edit: Going after Melissance is the next arc. The current arc is about determining his goal in life. He old goal was kill all evil per church doctrine. That defined who he is.
– Who is he now?
– What is is purpose in life? You done so much building up to the answers to these two questions in this book.

IumeMember
The plan is that Tom and Lenamare reuinite at the (next) siege of Freehold.
Not sure if that is book 4 or book 5.
What is book 4 about if not the siege of Freehold?
IumeMemberEtterdam is currently under the control of the alvarian forces. Would there even be D’Orcs there?
IumeMemberDo demons have material bodies on the astral plane?
IumeMemberThe website’s layout needs fixing more. Pain in the ass for mobile / tablet.
Best I’ve ever seen is http://www.ilona-andrews.com/

“Can you try routing to another Doomalogue? Try Astlan!” Vosh shouted as he stabbed his sword into the diaphragm of the avatar he was battling.“Crap! That’s not working either! I am unable to reach any of the Doomalogues other than the local one and something is wrong with that! We are completely cut off!”
Change Astlan to be a world not in the localverse.Otherwise it conflicts with the new text about forcing links during battle would take too much concentration.
Wasn’t addressed in Beta 2. This text reads as if Orcus tried to establish a connection. Of course it failed! It has nothing to do with the interdiction though. Maybe Gormegast?
IumeMember

Trisfelt never shared his suspicions about Rupert being a demon with Jenn?It is implied they have been communicating thought it was never explicitly stated.Or did I misread?
Can you refresh me on these suspicions. I don’t think it was stated that strongly in book 1. He was puzzled by the horses fearing him, but did not, I think, suspect he was a demon.
Or are you thinking of something in Book 2?
Book 2. Hilda and Trisfelt saw the recording, Danyel said the greater demon was named Rupert, Trisfelt recalled the problem with the horses, some more discussion, Trisfelt seemed fairly certain but still willing to doubt.
IumeMemberFormatting is really bad on epub on tablet and is likely to be bad on Kindle. The problem is the indentations of the bulleted lists are too far rightward. Basically the bullet leaves the left-HALF of the screen as white space.
IumeMemberFirst, I had this alllllllll typed up. Then the forums signed me out, told me access denied, and I lost my post. Gah! So, the shorter version…
The way the AARCs are introduced and used is awkward. They weren’t in book 2 and in book 2 we establish that there personal links between Hilda and her illuminaries. If there are personal link then why wasn’t she able to use those links to contact those aboard the Inferno? Yes, the AARC is a no-go. Their prayers would not reach Tierhallon. But personal links should have worked.
Also, with Hephaetus in the Abyss so often he must have a lot of trouble staying in communication with the dwarven avatars. Liliths demons must have panicked or at least noticed when she went dark because she traveled to Tierhallon.
Was the link cutting problem ever established in book 2? I know that we showed that prayers cannot extend from the Abyss to Tierhallon and that those in the Abyss cannot access their godpool or pantheon pool. Beyond that I do not recall anything.
IumeMemberTom is not surprised to find Tizzy despite that demon’s absence for a few days. Tom was just a few scenes ago wanting to find him ASAP. The surprise/questioning comes later in the scene but that the beginning Tom is like “You three are still up?” Tom asked in surprise.
It reads as if he expected Tizzy to be there.
IumeMemberJust chapters is fine. Scenes in TOC help for beta-reading, but beyond I don’t care.
IumeMember

Why not have them turn up while TOM is in the big battle at Nysegard…..then you can progress their story from the end of bk 3 into the beginning of book 4
I think because if they show up during Nysegard, Arg-nargoloth won’t be so relaxed and might assume it’s part of a plot to take Tom down. During Nysegard, Doom is at full battlestations, paranoid of another crippling attack.
As it is now, he sort of slaps them with the back of his hand telling them to bug off. A warning shot.
However at red alert, he might hit them with a whole bunch of gravity canons to destroy them rather than take any risks.
Arg-nargoloth is currently on Etterdam.
IumeMember
I see that. Here are my concerns.
[…]
The rule is->show it, don’t tell it. Except where it really has no story other than background[…]
However, if they are too distracting/don’t provide value? That’s a different question.
Pretty much these two things. A bulk of the Inferno’s scenes are background to book 4.
Also, I’m not saying make it be in the past. Just have them wander for a longer period of time in the Abyss before running into Melissance in book 4. You dictate how large a volume they can search and how quickly they can move. Slow them down, make them appear farther away from the courts, have them start searching in the wrong direction.
By doing this you make the crew more weary after a fruitless search. Then, imagine when they run into Samwell after they start to head into the correct direction. Spirits lift, maybe they think they are getting closer. Then, a signal! Huzzah. Only… sudden letdown its Melissance. Then begin routing towards Doom.
There is absolutely NOTHING in book 3 that says how long a time span has passed plot-wise for the Inferno crew. We only know because you tacked on a timestamp in the scene title and have that little, quickly forgotten and easy to erase intersection when Tom is informed that some people came knocking.
