Ah, but Tiernon did. Even if he didn’t recognize it should have been familiar. Tiernon and Torean certainly had no trouble.
Then, consider the knowledge he imparts to the other about demons, the Abyss, etc.
Basically in bk2 Beragamos does not come off as a 300,000+ year old avatar.
IumeMember
Speaking of Beragamos’ age:
Beragamos sighed shaking his head. “In seventy-three thousand, four hundred and eighty-three years, give or take a few centuries depending on which planet we are talking about, I have done—I have been—many things, but I swear tonight is the first time that ‘horse thief’ was one of them.”
This kinda indicates that Beragamos has only been around for 70,000 and change years. Not 300,000.
Later in the book:
Something was horribly, indescribably wrong. He felt at a complete loss, he felt empty, empty in a way he literally could not remember ever being before, at least not in any recent Phoenix Cycle. That would have to be at least three hundred thousand years.
I much prefer the 70,000 version though. Makes him about the same age as Vosh An-non, but that may also make him younger than the wedding.
IumeMember
There was a clunk as Talarius, who had been leaning back drunkenly on his chair’s rear legs leaned forward setting the chair firmly on four legs. The knight shook his head trying to be sure he had heard correctly. “Wait, are you telling me that you two are heathen deities?”…
Sekhmekt and Phaestus started laughing again as Talarius stared at them tipsily. “Yes, you didn’t know that?” Sekhmekt asked.
“I do not normally have to ask people that.” Talarius retorted.
Previous Talarius was okay with the conversion / saving the people of Natoor because he (and the church) viewed the Nyjyr Ennead as FALSE deities. Not sure where the heresy part fits in, but it his book 2 perception makes me think that Talarius views the Nyjyr Ennead as a “bad” pantheon, or worshipers of demons, or something or other. That is because of the false deity part combined with heresy.
Antefalken shook his head. “No, Trevin says that Bastet was a goddess of the Nyjyr Ennead, a pantheon of deities previously worshiped in Natoor and Najaar.”“Heretics, false deities, thankfully long gone!” Talarius stated proudly.
“Wiped out by the Etonians,” Antefalken said, nodding to Talarius.
While I get his shock at the raping, pillaging, and barbaric behavior of the Rod’s forces there seems to be a conflict in how he views the Nyjyr Ennead between bk2 and bk3.Maybe, something along the lines of “You were the ones to poses as the gods of Natoor?” “We ARE their gods stupid” Blah blah blah, something something.
IumeMemberpsst, pay me as a contractor / temp telecommuter to help handle your workload so you can write more. :-” :-s :-s
IumeMemberWhy didn’t the orcs of Nysegard keep in contact with the hordmates on other planes in the localverse?
IumeMemberAny particular reason why Tiernon’s forces couldn’t open up an Abyssal Gateway, ping their illuminaries, and them to GTFO of the Abyss?
So long as they don’t go through is it a violation? Might be a bit too much bending of the intent of the rules though for Tiernon’s folk, but I suspect Torean wouldn’t mind. They didn’t even try to reach out to the Naverson gods.
IumeMemberCan you move this to Issues for Beta? It would easier to have the sub-forum contain all posts that are pending. Or I can just create a post linking back to this thread. Your choice.
IumeMemberHm, perhaps calling it a personal pool? I know that in bk2 we establish that worshipers pray, priests collect mana, and then it feeds to the outer planes as a single massive link. Presumably upon arrival it becomes highly refined mana for the godpool?
Now, Tom pulled from the godpool, but in normal circumstances does the mana go through the avatars first to be refined and then deposited into the godpool? Then the avatars approve prayer requisitions for mana expenditure and pull some from the godpool to give to priests?
Could, perhaps, avatars also have smaller personal pools? Maybe that personal pool is what is really used to refine the mana and feed it to the godpool?
So, rather than losing access to an AARC they lose access to their prayer queues and lose access to the personal pool in Tierhallon. Without access to the personal pool they cannot access the Tierhallon godpool since the personal pool is part of the cipher process?
Dunno, but you may be able to replace “AARC” with personal pool. That I can easily equate to Tom’s pool / wand.
IumeMemberOh, there are a lot missing ” in the bk3. Don’t really want to try and find them all. Will your editor handle that?
IumeMemberPer appendix in bk2:
Zbibik was very popular during the war against the Anilords (he was opposed to the Anilords) and is still popular among any rebel groups. He is also very popular among a number of non-human races, Orcs and Jotun in particular.
Seems to an odd fit. It seems like he and Orcus do not get along yet he popular with Orcs and Jotun? Even with Loki being somewhat chaotic, still…
IumeMemberIf the priests in the Inferno need more mana then couldn’t they just open a small Abyssal Gateway, pop a prayer through it, and then keep it open as they fed the mana into their spells?
IumeMemberI don’t recall them fixing it.
IumeMemberWell, even if he did he was only able to pull the mana because he had possessed the Rod and hijacked their links.
This time he hijacked the link of an avatar. Different protection, incomplete protection? Maybe only the mortal side was fixed?
IumeMemberIt should be dragged.
IumeMemberAARC = Avatar Automated Response Center. This is done once in Chapter 123.
Honestly it really should be replaced with another term much like we say Wand of Orcus rather than the WoO. Reliquary, terminal, prayer station, prayer queue, et cetera would work better.
