I’m not sure, because remember I’m the standard bearer for sanity. I’m the one who is sane, remember everyone who thinks I am insane, is actually insane, they just don’t realize it. And that characteristic is the big difference between psychosis and neurosis, neurotics know they’re messed up, psychotics don’t.

Now to be honest, I may, at times be a little neurotic (who isn’t) but I am absolutely certain I’m not psychotic.

    For me at least.

Apparently there’s some sort of army of angels running rampage over the surface of Astlan or something.

Don’t know anything about it though.

I’m just sitting here, bored, flossing my teeth with some of strands of fiberglass from my couch.

    Wowed, Mowed (over)…only a small difference I’m sure…

Angels tend to be just as blood thirsty and murderous as demons, they’ve just got a lot better PR, so everyone thinks they are the good guys, we have really bad PR and so are the evil lunatics!

    This could be….

some of your hypothesis, however will get answered pretty early on in book 2, however, said answer may confuse the overall question of this topic even more.

It’s one thing to skin a human. Or eat one. They’re an inferior species so a tanned human hide coat for example is no worse than one from a cow.

But demons? Those are people! It would be completely immoral!

Although truth be told, I’ve heard that more than a few of the demon princes eat their enemies for breakfast, and I’m pretty sure they mean that literally.

    Of course it is rich!

You do have to admit there is a high correlation between immorality and wealth?

Compare the lifestyles of billionaire playboys with oil companies to that of nuns? Which are moral, which are rich?

    Evil pays!

Of course the eternal retirement plan is pretty unpleasant for evil playboys, so enjoy they should enjoy it while they can!

Is it not the aspiration, rather than the realization and perfection that is important?

My experience with dreams is that when you achieve them, they end up feeling hollow.

That’s why I like to squash people’s dreams before they can be disappointed by them.

I think it’s just one of the many friendly services that I, as a demon, can provide.

A century sounds reasonable to me, it’s not that long a time. I think I played a game of chess once that lasted around 40 years.

However I probably average 3-4 a day…not sure, should take count/forum time to find out.

So maybe a little high, the time scale I was working on was “when will GRRM finish A Song of Ice and Fire” and I figured whatever that time is, that’s the time it takes to become a ‘Dark God’.

Again, a century doesn’t seem that unreasonable in that context.

Actually, Gods do need/want worshipers. That is where they get their mana (above and beyond what they can collect on their own). That’s the key difference between a gods, demons, avatars, djinn and other mana rich beings. Everyone not a god is pretty much limited to what they can collect on their own and store. Gods can store a tremendous about more, have the means to harvest it from worshipers and distribute it to their underlings, including priests.

Naturally, I must add the disclaimer that this is a gross over simplification relevant to this issue only. Gods are actually transcendent creatures of divine wisdom, judgement and holy power, deserving of all reverence and worship!

As I’ve mentioned before when discussing gods…can’t say what I know…but this topic is highly relevant to future events….

I really don’t like where this thread is going.

I didn’t like it from the start, given it’s name….this is adding to my misgivings…

So much for the fuzzy wuzzy feelings I was feeling a few minutes ago…

    Yeah,

that makes sense, but a lot of this still have to be processed (book II) the initial reaction is shock, I think.

But yes, lots of different people have different reactions, and that’s what book II is about, at least the first half or so, then the rest is the repercussions of those reactions.

The mana stealing is big, it’s not supposed to be possible. Also one key point is that for most observers that weren’t participants it’s probably not completely clear what happened. Unless you were watching with wizard/demon/elvish whatever sight, etc.

However, I can say, as a demon, rather than thinking Tiernon looked weak, most are going to be worried about retaliation from Tiernon and friends. At least that’s what I’m worried about.

It would indeed! I’m going to have to tell T-A-G to think about using that!

That would be prudent….sort of like a bribe to “look the other way.”

If you start sacrificing too few lambs, goats, bulls, whatever, they might want to come investigate…

If that gets their attention, I wonder what taking something the god already had would do?

OK, so I guess I’m not going to be hitching a ride back to Astlan with him….

Yeah well surprise Tom’s sort of stuck in the Abyss for a while because he’s got this hostage that he really doesn’t want to just leave in the Abyss, and doesn’t dare take him back where he might escape or send out a distress signal to his god…so we’re killing a LOT of time here. You might have noticed, T-A-G is running a bit behind on book 2, that’s because I’m stuck in the Abyss and can’t find out what others are doing to narrate it.

And I’m also live blogging stuff.

When the others try and tell you that I’m talking to myself? I am actually either narrating to T-A-G or talking to you guys on this forum.
