Is Tom’s method of binding a soul when ascending D’Orcs used by gods as well when creating their avatars?
I ask because I was wondering if that meant Tiernon knows the true name of all of his avatars and has personal links or not. If not, then how does the saint creation ritual vary?
IumeMember

So… just who is Orcus’ father?
Open your book 3 beta EPUB and search for “mirror”.
I must be blind because I don’t see mention of Orcus’s father. Step-father may be Aetherius, but birth father (unless like it was like Dis)?
IumeMemberEverytime I think Ares I can’t help but picture Kevin Smith from Hercules the Legendary Journey and Xena: Warrior Princess. Bad-ass leather; kept getting his ass beat. Eris was his fetish sidekick in those shows wasn’t she?
IumeMemberIt wasn’t a great movie. 3/5 for me.
I liked it when I watched it on the Sci-Fi channel, but it isn’t something I’d rewatch again and again. It just felt too rushed.
Edit: Or am I thinking of the Riverworld TV series?
IumeMemberIf mana is created by the interaction of all 5 elements then how does the Abyss produce mana for demons to absorb if it lacks the element of water?
Or does each individual element have some mana and the combination of them simply produces more than can be extracted from individual elements alone?
IumeMemberWe have Apostles and Prophets of
upon . A prophet is a canonized apostle. We have (what is Orc Apostle?) and Oracles of Orcus upon Nysegard. Does that mean that someone like Tal Gor is the equivalent of an apostle and if D’Orced he would become an Oracle of Orcus upon Astlan?
Interesting how both are Oracle and Prophet, which mean roughly the same thing. Each foretells a future, presumably of what will happen as a result of the their god coming to fulfill the needs of people.

Are Outer Planes infinite in size or is the size limited by the will of its owner? Some of the descriptions the outer planes make me wonder whether the Abyss was once an outer plane but was temporally locked during the Time Wars. Or whatever the fighting was called prior to the Concord of Conciliation being formed.
—
If outer planes are a reflection of material planes what happens to a reflection based on a material plane that is destroyed?
—
Tiernon did not detect Lilith sneaking into Tierhallon. Tizzy did not (presumably) detect Sentir Fallon sneaking into the Abyss when he visited Lilith.
It would seem that whether its ownership, age, experience, or some odd ability (I still say Tizzy was once the ruler of the Abyss) the ability to know if someone enters their domain is not infallible.
Therefore, what IS an outer plane and how does it work? Is Tierhallon the way it is simply because Tiernon is most powerful being in it or did he do something to stake a claim on control it?
Based on bk2 it is implied that an outer plane can “collapse” so it seems to be maintained by the will of its gods. Aetherus’s realm still exists though even without its god because (it is implied) the 5S are paying the upkeep.

If a god is a god because of their god pool then could any demon collect worshipers, build a god pool, and become a god?
Maybe start by pretending to be a small shrine deity, collect mana from pilgrims, use demon abilities to fulfill prayers, and eventually have enough mana to create an outer plane or somehow stake a claim on an outer plane?
—If a demon goes an outer plane does it break the binding that ties them to the Abyss? Are they no longer tied to any plane or does the binding that automatically returns them to the Abyss re-establish itself upon re-entering a material plane?
—
Does the Concord of Conciliation apply to gods who are not signatories? What about demons entering outer planes of non-signatories? Presumably the tribunal would simply says “tough luck”, but it does offer an opportunity for demons to enter an outer plane.
—
If one is a god is it possible to setup a home in an outer plane without having worshipers? Or are worshipers a requirement?
Does an outer plane actually even exist without a god to inhabit it?
Can anyone control an outer plane so long as they have enough mana? Is that the primary reason for worshipers? To gather enough mana to claim it, shape it, and maintain it?

Entropy. The material planes (and by extension the outer planes) are limited in their lifecycle, but are the elemental “planes” infinite in life?
How are localverses created? Is an infinite amount being born ever moment?
IumeMember– Undead Sandworm
– Undead Graboid
– Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!IumeMemberSo much good new stuff. All expected in Beta 1?
IumeMemberDoes anyone else think Jenn is an older Lisa Simpson. She is convinced she knows how the world works and is trying too hard to be an adult / mother.
IumeMemberThis sounds like a job for spreadsheets! Behold the miraculous ability to graph humor and tension levels, marvel at how quickly the plot moves (or not).
Lacking the spreadsheets:
– Good humor exists for the Wizards (Jenn, Gastrope, Nimbus crew, Freehold). They are the big ones.
– No humor really for Inferno crew or the Heavenly crew (that’s 5S + avatars + their mortals). There is a sort of “oh shit, just wait till you find out” glee, but not humor.
– Tension is decent for Talarius as he struggles to reconcile faith w/ reality.
– Tension kind of builds for those fighting Unlife, but not really BOOM at any point. Not sure how well it ramps. Again, better suited to be able to survey the relevant scenes and graph it.
– Tension never really builds for Tom personally.
– Humor, but no tension for orcs on journey.
– I just feel sad that Vaselle is so down-beaten that he needs Tom’s approval to feel he has self-worth. He’s like a kicked puppy seeking affection.
– Exadork and company is… unchanged from book 1 and book 2.IumeMemberThe Nimbus pacing is decent. A few dry spots, but overall they feel engaged. Moving the Inferno scenes to Book 4 will only make them feel that more engaged.
Additionally, what if we moved up the reopening of Nysegard and then the journey by Tal Gor? That allows the Nimbus to engage earlier in the story and saves more of the later book for the Nysegard battle?
I need to make a spreadsheet of each scene, list whose POV it shows, and the approximate length. Flipping through the TOC and the individually scenes to check is getting tedious.
Nimbus & co. are (** are the big scenes):
Chapter 117 **
Chapter 121
Chapter 122 **
Chapter 133
Chapter 138
Chapter 139 **
Chapter 140 **
Chapter 141 **
Chapter 142 (and here is where we stopped for now)Now, the big thing is that gap between 122 and 133. I personally tend to lump Nimbus and co. w/ the Wizard POV so if you mix it that it works better. They just need to interact and mirror Freehold from time to time.
The big things that still need to be handled in this book:
– Talarius’s final resolution
– Jenn
– Inferno (unless moved to Bk4)
– Tiernon’s choice
– Doomalogue journey (unless moved to Into the Wilds) need to actually reach the base of the volcanos. Maybe not restart, but at least reach and find occupants. Then in Tom needs to make a choice. Support his own people or support deals/oaths made with allied forces?IumeMember
I do not believe he is in Etterdam. Not seeing it.
He was back for the D’Orcing and he’s in the conference room when they are discussing the Citadel.
But yes, he will be traveling with them at some point.
You are right, he was in the conference room to discuss the battle for the Citadel, however he was on Etterdam for the D’Orcing. ”Thus Karth, along with the D’Orc shaman Kroth-bitor, Karth’s wife Eldebra, two other orc shamans, Nod Rock Bender and Luga Strength Sapper and Arg-nargoloth had all gone to Ragala-nargoloth’s campsite. They had contacted her yesterday and she had taken her party slightly off course to a nearby henge, which being on a ley line intersection would be helpful in the ascension.”
I thought he was still on Etterdam because he didn’t show up in the battle for the Citadel.

Unfortunately, the real Apostles of Doom story sort of got away from this book. Stuff that was supposed to happen here is getting postponed by Nysegard and the Storm Lords. As far as sliding things, at this point, if it helps us build a better climax to stay focused on the battle, I am willing to let concurrent stuff elsewhere (like Jenn, Inferno) slide into book 4 and back date those sections like I did at the beginning of those books.
Lots of options on the table.
Prior to Book 2, what was the end goal for Book 3?
IumeMemberYeah, Book 1 I read as if it were a single POV with only intermissions being the other POV. In Book 2 is became clear it was multiple POV.
IumeMember
Which parts are giving you WoT feelies? Specifically, if you can. I need to avoid those like the plague!.
Basically the Rupert/Fer Rog, the Tal Gar, and Ragala-nargoloth parts.
Also, the Inferno scenes unless it is actually going somewhere in this book. I presume it meant to be part of an as-of-yet unread cliffhanger but since that cliffhanger moment hasn’t happened…
Basically these journeys happen and only minimally intersect with Tom’s story, and then… they just end. Right now they are more like separate stories rather than an interwoven tale and that was RJ’s sin. I skipped the boring stories a character had within each book and stuck to the interesting ones.
