So, if the Abyss is neutral, would that make the inhabitants neutrally charged as well? Therefore allowing a demon to travel to either of the two parts of the universe with no ill effects?
This would help explain the weirdness in “Edwyrd’s” and Rupert’s auras when viewed by that other animage, Maelan.
Unlikely. Antimus is what killed Orcus and antimus was killing Tom until he countered it with enough godly animus to neutralize it.
I’ve always read the weirdness as being a result of there being so much animus. Edwyrd is just a solidified animus energy pattern.
IumeMemberSo, when books 1 and 2 I noticed two styles of infodump. #1 – It was in the style of an essay, discourse, or other material presented by an in-universe character. #2 – It was a plan infodump.
I really liked the first approach. Even if we never meet a particular character that wrote the text it was written in such as a way that it avoided those awful tables and it gave a sense of “this is lore” rather than “this is what the author designed”. I was wondering/hoping, but could you make book 3 appendices (even those mid-story/interlude) all in the first style?
It is less jarring and helps with flow.
IumeMemberTAG mentioned that there was a delay of ~4+ weeks due to real life work. Then, tack on a couple of months for beta and revisions. So, beta starting end of July and a final version in October?
IumeMemberCould we get a first chapter of Apostles of Doom spoiler / tease?
IumeMemberGiven the bond between Gastrope and Tizzy I wonder ifnTozzy cast the demon familiar spell on himself and then transferred it to Gastrope much like how our warlock transferred his bond to Tom.
I also wonder how the first demon binding spell or even the modern version came to be. Perhaps demons used to cast the familiar spell on themselves and then gave it to others as a pledge of service. Then wizards stole it, perverted it, and turned a tool of loyalty and trust into a yoke of slavery.
IumeMemberWe’re all on the list. T-A-G will post a link to the beta page once it is available.
IumeMemberThe mention of the monkey king brings up an interesting theme. On Astlan we’ve heard of gods that left Midgard from Scandinavian, Greek, Roman, and Egyptian regions. No mention of figures from other places. Did the gods of China or India ever come to the Astlantian (right term?) localverse? What about those of Mayan or Incan empires?
IumeMemberThe musing of Hilda & co regarding Rupert’s parentage makes me wonder whether demons are restricted to one gender or not. What’s to stop a male demon from turning female or a female from being male? What about being an incubus / succubus. Is that actually restricted to specific individuals or can demons shapeshift as needed?
IumeMemberSpeaking of Tom’s multiple forms, I hope he learns multiple Orc forms (one for each world / Orc type). Since this requires a lot of shapeshifting he’ll need many outfits so he should learn how to access hammerspace just like Tizzy and Antefalken.
IumeMemberI am re-reading book 2 in preparation of being a beta demon for book 3 and I ran across this line, “However, both Völund and I were off plane at the time, or things might have gone differently.” Phaestus frowned at the memory. “That was a very big mistake. All four key players gone at the same time. One we shall not repeat”
So, who was the fourth key player?
We have:
Volund
Hephaestus
Orcus
???One of the djinn, another demon, Tisdale, someone else?
IumeMemberHere’s hoping it’s still on track for Late April beta.
*fingers crossed*
IumeMember
All sorts of people in Murgatroy these days.
Don’t know if any one else has noticed but something funky began happening at nearby old Fort Murgatroid; few days after the big battle at Mount Doom.
Not a clue what’s going on over there.
So, it’ll be Heavens to Murgatroid and they’ll scamper off?
IumeMemberI’m betting it was Sam that was watching the battle. He always there. Watching. Dang stalker.
IumeMember

Actually, that is mentioned by Chancellor Alighieri as they prepare to leave. They don’t have any reliable maps of the Abyss, documentation is quite sparse. They take the Inferno up to about 35,000 feet (assuming altitude remains the same in the Abyss–not sure how good that is but…) to very specifically avoid popping up in the middle of the Courts of Chaos. [Or any other local topography or demon hordes]
The assumption, and this is the reason for the alliance is that the priests of Tiernon should be able to locate the only other “Tiernon” attuned source in the Abyss.
Of course, this assumes that Asmodeus’ “guest” a former High Priestess (and beloved of Talarius) is not also lit up as Tiernon Beacon
=d>

I vaguely recall some of that, but other than homing in part I think you cut the rest of it out from the final version. I just checked Chapter 111 and I don’t see a mention of the other parts.
IumeMemberOkay. That is perfectly sensible and logical. Very un-Tizzy-like. Are you sure you are Tizzy and not an impersonator?
