Try an mirror to see the sneaky creature 😀
KorwinMember
Tizzy, this is very important. Never under any circumstances tell Tom anything about this. The knowledge would only torment him, never let on to what happened after he left. Understand?
Well, imagine an Abyssal intervention on our planet, started by the Doompire.
But on which side would they be? The above Archdemon while talking much, doesn’t count as Diplomat, right?
He does employ lawers, but he also gets them looked up…:-#
KorwinMemberAnimagic summoning is possible but more dangerous.
D’Orcing being an example of an willing Animagic summoning. But if the enslaver where predominatly Animages prior to Wizardry being around, should’nt be there more hate from Demons against Animages?
Or is the problem, we are only seeing young (enslaved by Wizards) demons (with the exception of Tizzy)?KorwinMemberI’ll add,

the Olympian gods (especially Orcus sister), and

Sutekh (isn’t he an Egyptian god?)

When we left book 3, there are many threads still outstanding

Big battle – how many new orcs will be made D’Orcs after the battle outside the citadel of light? Any new Tiernen Avatars as well that become relevant to the story. KorwinMemberHmm, I should update the thread title. 2018 is definitly in the past.
If the book is on the third priority… 2021?By summer for the book on priority one OOA:ITN or DOA:Volume IV, what summer are we talking about exactly?
Northern or Southern hemisphere? The one in the northern one is over. :-“KorwinMember
Hmm. Well thank goodness for boom gates and teleportation etc. If we know where we are going, we can just hop gates or create a new gate.
Hmm, I assumed (direct) teleportation is not possible in the Abyss (without the Astral Plane).
And that the boom gates work more on the prinziple of the World-Gates (but with the beginning and endpoints being in the Abyss).Or is the Astral Plane only in the D&D Localverse an requirement for teleportation and not in the Astlan Localverse?
But the Abyss doesnt count as belonging to an single Localverse…?
:-sKorwinMemberInterresting
Now, not all localverses have physics for teleportation, and some that do are problematic because of their topology, although that’s something one can figure out with enough time and effort and is only a problem for extraplaner people.Boom Gates are related to “Star Gates” in that they are limited to the localverse. They are mini-wormhole type things and are again different from teleportation.
So the Abyss is tied (and limited) to an Local-Verse? That was not clear to me before.
:-kKorwinMember
The Abyss is not at all like a localverse, the Boom Gates are limited to the Abyss, the same way the Star Gates are limited to a localverse.
I am just saying that the Boom Gates can’t be used for Demons “to escape” to the outside, to any localverse.
The existence of such devices would scare the crap out of wizards everywhere.
Well only if they know about them.
The question is, do they know about the World Gates in Mount Doom… [biggrin]KorwinMemberI could see it working (for me) if the math is done between sessions, but subtracting 3 Digit numbers from one another in battle is not an good first impression [huh] [wink].
I do like in dept character generation in general.
Btw. there is parrying in D&D [lol] , but it’s in an late book for the 3.5 Edition.
And it’s only once per round and takes your Swift Action for the next round. There is an parry function, backed in the core game in DSA (Das Schwarze Auge) / The Dark Eye.
Combat takes (real time) ages in this game, because of that.
You have an attack number and an parry number which can be up to 5 Points appart.
To hit you need to roll under your attack number, then the opponent must roll under his parry number (with an d20).KorwinMemberSomewhere in the Information at the beginning of Chapters, there is mentioned that at the time of the Anilords, there was no Wizardry. Only Proto Wizardy called Mana Enineering was started.
(Counterpoint: In the timeline there are mentions of Wizards before that time.)Sooo… Obvioiusly thats only the Timeline for Astlan not the Localverse.
So Wizards where late arrivals on Aslan, but known earlier on the other planets?
Or was it only an name change? If Wizardry is relly an new profession? Who conjured Demons before?
KorwinMemberMight be time to relisten to 1 – 3…
KorwinMember
EEK: Just found Tom’s character sheet! He was never actually played as a character, we never got anyone high enough level to not be squashed by him.
Please post his sheet.
[love]KorwinMember
It’s actually above.
I think I missed the second page, yesterday [rolleyes]
It’s an Animus character so that stats are different than D&D, etc.As an FYI, stats start at D&D levels and can just keep going up, there isn’t the sort of exponential curve that happens in D&D once you get past 18, where suddenly you can’t compare the strength of Hercules to the strength of Atlas because the scale 19->25 is too small.
Not shure I get, what you are talking about here. Are you talking about AD&D?
Only started with D&D 3.0.
My currently played Gnome Shadowcraft Mage has an Str. of 48 when he Shapechanges into an Pit Fiend (with Equipment).
Combat is all D100, and there are modifiers for attacker AF, defender DF and magic weapons, and spells.
Roll over, roll under or what? Thanks for the sheet, I will take it as Basis for converting Lord Tommus.
Now what to do, with his Rod… [cool]KorwinMember
In Original D&D, Basic D&D and ADD 1/2 and I thought 3, have a maximum ability score of 18 for most normal characters/beings, and a minimum of 3.
This got changed in the third Edition (and a cap might have been brought back in the 5th Edition, not shure. Not playing that version)
Example: Pit Fiend:
Abilities:
Str 37, Dex 27, Con 27, Int 26, Wis 26, Cha 26

Melee Attack Procedure1) Roll % dice (1-100).
[snip]
9) Any remaining damage is inflicted on the character, which must be subtracted from the character’s remaining DT.

Critical Results Tables[snip]

Our slogan was:
Animus, the RPG you’ve been training your whole life for!
Hmm, I get an Rolemaster vibe from this…?
It reads complicated to play? That said, the only reason I see for an d100 are the crit rules, right? A d20 would have an higher base crit chance (5%).
In D&D 3.X (there where the 3.0 and the 3.5 Edition, which where functional the same), you add
your base attack Bonus (BAB) + your Strenght Bonus + equipment and feat boni +/- size boni/mali + 1d20 dice and compare it to the targed number (AC: Armor Class) of the target.
If you hit the AC of the opponent you have hit. There are some additional rules for critical hit’s, miss chance for invisible opponents, etc.
KorwinMember
Same problem with time travel actually, that’s why there are strict rules for using time travel with the World Gates.
I hope those rules are really, really strict.
In general I dislike time travel in books, because it is most often done badly and looks like the author did write himself into an corner.
The only exception are (for me):
– The book is all about time travel
– If it’s in the mind of the author from the beginning and he uses it in an consistent way.Like I would not be surprised if the resurrection of Orcus would invole time travel (like starting the phoenix cycle, before Orcus got consumed by the Antimus).
I just hope, it does stay in the Background and does not get to much on screen time.
Other opinions?
