MemberThat looks very tasty. So that is like eggs, milk and butter inside?
Almost looks like cheese!
I can find recipes, but no place around here serving it.
Surprisingly, Google Maps is not finding a lot of Finnish restaurants, all it dredges up are Swedish restaurants.
Of which, we have lot…
The Author Guy
MemberCorrect.
Apostles are just mortals with much larger limit on how much mana they can draw from the god pools/pantheon pools compared to mortal Priests
See the ranking chart for the Church of Tiernon (in Astlan same thing exists elsewhere but names vary)
Apostles would rank above the High Pontificate, but below a saint.
Apostles also have access (because of the books that Stevos gave Teragdor) to rituals/chants/etc of the other orders, E.g. Brothers, Sisters, Rod
So there is a ritual he could probably use on himself, if he had learned it.
And actually, given where he worked, on the border where there are orcs, alvar, humans and numerous other races, multiple governments/peoples, he might have learned it already. He would need it much more than someone in the middle of New Etonia.

MemberThat would be amusing.
I’m also trying to figure out where there might be vacuum in the Abyss.
Place is a little weird in that that temperature drops as you go up, but pressure, apparently does not, or at least a much slower rate.
The Author Guy
MemberThis is an interesting point. I think she does somewhat discount that, or that was my thought, perhaps I should go with naive. Let me play with this.
Now, why I say “interesting” is that if she were to accept Maelen’s assertion that he is much older, then Tizzy’s claim of Rupert being Edwyrd’s son is more plausible, albeit, why would they have lied about that, and she would also know/believe that Ruperts parents were both dead (or gone in case of father) and that he was an orphan
The Author Guy
MemberYes, those robes are rather key to reactions that are coming up in both this book and the next.
The Author Guy
MemberIf he was Ed Wood, he’d have at least 9 plans from outer space to go with….
Back to Jenn being upset:
New paragraph:
She was not sure who she was more upset with, Gastropé, Edwyrd, Damien or herself for being blind to these shenanigans. Probably Edward: while surprisingly skilled, he was, like Gastropé, still young and inexperienced—Maelen’s suspicions about his age to the side, she was a good judge of people and he seemed to have neither the confidence nor maturity of someone much older than he appeared. Taking a little kid like Rupert plane hoping with what now turned out to be a demon prince was stupidity on a scale that she could barely even comprehend. And as for Damien, a Councilor of Wizardry should have had more common sense than to continue any sort of cooperation with the demon Tom.

Member
That’s better…
Does Jenn know that Tom is a Demon Prince at this stage??? I’m trying to read back through – but haven’t been able to find the timing of that revelation yet.
EDIT: Just re-read the relevant sections in Chapter 140. Jenn knows that Tom is more powerful then a Greater Demon and that the D’Orcs now call him Lord Tommus. Also that he has taken over Mount Doom and had a battle with Lilith….but she doesn’t seem to have made the connection that Tom is now a Demon Prince….you might need to tweek some of the conversation between Jenn and Gastrope to highlight the change of status of Tom in Jenn’s mind in the “Astlan, Stone Finger Camp: Mid-Fifth Period” scene.
So, OK, yes, that’s the current view. Now trying to remember what is in which alpha because things move along from there.
Big thing she does NOT know is that Edwyrd & Tom are the same.
But I should have her have some discussions with Gastrope’ about the Demon Prince thing.
Please bring this up again after next alpha/beta if it’s not done in that version.
I am starting to move forward with the Nysegard stuff and will do backfill on the Nimbus stuff (that being said, next release has some fun Nimbus drama)
The Author Guy
MemberExactly!
Plus, there is no way he can hide who he is from Sammael, and being Denubian, and working for two demon princes (Asmodeus, Lilith) he’s pretty safe.
One thing to keep in mind is that Asmodeus is a powerful prince in his own right, he often seems like he might be a servant of Lilith, but he is really a close ally, of only slightly lesser stature.
One should also presume they known each other in other contexts. The politics of the courts is or can be fluid (although over pretty long timescales). For these guys, so much of this is simply a game they are playing, particularly at the Prince and ArchDemon level. So there is all sorts of intrigue and jockeying for power/advantage.
The Author Guy
MemberThanks! Will go through this tomorrow, writing at the moment.
We should flag some others in on the discussion of the El’Addasir. That was added in like Alpha-1 to give more context as to why the elves are acting so “un-elfish” in their hurry.
It ties out to the Balance. What Net and Danu are concerned with, which other gods are not aware of, is that they see Orcus’ Doomalogues as a logistical supply line to invading the Outer Planes.
As it is, Midgard is a buffer between the Outer Planes and the Abyss. God/Pantheon Pools can’t connect to the Abyss, and they can’t exist on the Material Planes. So any gods traveling to the Abyss will be cut off.
Demons (other than Orcus) don’t have anything like a god pool. Orcus has something like a god pool. With his Doomalogues he has substations that can draw from the main pool and the other 666 pools and can channel connect to the Outer Planes in a way the gods can’t connect to the Abyss.
Thus Net and Danu see Orcus, who they know has Tartarus, and who is, an Atheist (meaning anti-deist) and a rebel, as building a logistical powerline to the Outer Planes where he can take his war to the gods.
And then add in a bunch of stuff people do not know (but is here in the alpha forums) regarding Eris, Orcus, the Five Siblings and Danu’s relationshhip to all of them….well….

MemberThe Astlanian term is undead. Nearly everyone in Astlan would call them undead. This probably includes people who know the truth, it’s the sort of thing that most people wouldn’t have the patience for. It’s like an old Strigoi hunter trying to get the word out, but no one wanting to listen (The Strain)
Most very high level necromancers and liches etc would know the truth. If you can turn yourself into a lich, you know what you are doing.
Nysegard calls it Unlife. They very much know what it is.
Most gods who fight it, know it’s Unlife, Hilda would know the term, but most likely use undead around those not familiar with the term.
Amongst themselves, the avatars would use it interchangeably. In Astlan it would be undead and unlife in Nysegard.
The Demon Princes all know the truth, but don’t care that much. Those below, who knows.
Of our main POV: The avatars all NOW know. Stevos probably did not, the rest would have, including Hilda as its her specialty and went to school on it.
Jenn, Gastrope’ still do not know, Lenamare and some councilors may have heard something about it, but none would know much, if anything.
Alexandros Mien, might….and that’s probably it.
Vaselle probably knows now, not sure about Tal Gor & shamans.
Actually, that’s an interesting point. Shamans–some very powerful ones–might know about it since they are into spirits and animus, but I suspect they would use different terms.
Of ours, only Beya Fei Geist and Ragalah-nargoloth “might” know, but not clear if they would.
Elraith Castegones probably knows about it, but would most likely not use the term since it is too esoteric for most, and not his central focus. This is because he is very much a “gestalt” or Zen type Druid, his “oneness” with the world and multiverse. He’s learned a lot about the secrets of life extension, he would almost have to have encountered it.
There are certain types of animages that would know, however, we don’t have any of those at this time.

MemberHmm,
Considering the size and scope of the dance maybe it should be 4 kilos.
Hmm, need to look at some of those bales of weed they captured on the mexican border to see how much 4 kilos would be.
A joint is typically between .5 to 1 gram. So 1 Kilo is roughly 1,000 joints, maybe 2,000. Now this is demon weed, so it’s about as potent as you can get; althoug presumably, like pot, there are different strengths.
Now, if you are like Tizzy and have been a continuous smoker for say 100,000 years, your personal stash is probably extra potent.
So I bet you could probably figure .5 grams per joint, but to really get D’Orcs going, they will probably need the full gram. But maybe that’s for the guys who have dedicated pipes, the sharing guys get .5 each.
So let’s say the majority of the 2,000 D’orcs and 2,000 Demons need about .5 grams. That would mean I need 2 Kilos for them alone.
Hmm, maybe he has 4 kilos after all. I don’t know that I believe this, but the story this is attached to is about a priest from italy caught with 3 kilos.
That looks like more than 3 Kgs.
[albumimg]32[/albumimg]
although, maybe here is a pot with about a third of a kilo in it.

MemberThat was my assumption all along.
My thought was that it looks like a drawstring coin pouch (I think I need to check the wording on that in the text), and that it’s much bigger on the inside.
The Author Guy
MemberYes, exactly.
However, pretty sure Talarius would have no idea what you just said.

MemberYes, they do like to do that…ran around building all these buildings and supplying them with rulers to slap the knuckles of children.
In fact, just a couple El (train) stops north of me, about 2 or 3 miles is Loyola University founded in 1870 by St Ignatius’ Illuminaries

MemberFound another issue in 130
So just sort of randomly reread and discovered that when discussing “who have they got in the dungeon” and reveal that it is Eris, we are told that Zeus recommended them to the Etonians.
Obviously, this is contradicted in the Tiernon/Torean discussions where they did not want the Olympeans to know they’d locked up Zeus’ daughter.
So basically deleted/changed those lines to this
Phaestus closed his eyes and bowed his head for a moment, inhaling as if to draw strength. He finally looked up and opened his eyes. “I detest that woman. She has brought more problems to the Olympians than anyone I can think of…well other than my parent’s marital woes.”
“So she’s an Olympian goddess?” Tom asked.
Phaestus nodded, “My sister in fact.”
“You helped lock up your own sister?” Tom asked in shock.
Phaestus shrugged. “In our family, that does not mean we have to like each other; after all, I hate my mother with a multiversally renowned passion.” Tom noted the others all nodded in agreement with this statement.
