It’s almost time! Yes, I will start the series over. I mean, I have books 1-3 digitally already, but I also have my paperback of book 3. So now I’ll plan out getting all caught up and ready!
At the moment, T-A-G is out in deep space with a party of Orks. However, some stuff happening there will also be in Book 4, so that is sort of like stoning two harpies with one pipe.

I gotta be honest though, not a huge fan of the harpies, if I am honest, of all the Olympian ladies, I like Medusa the best, now she’s someone who really knows how to get stoned!

Where can we sit down for some tasty Harpy Pie? It’s the other white meat, you know… and cookies.
From memory, in book 2 there where discussions about how Ocrus would create D’Orcs from from Orcs warriors that had died in battle….I got the impression that was something that could be done quickly during the heat of battle….but when Tom creates the first new D’Orc shaman this is a long involved process that needed a lot of preparation….and demon weed

Also, the need to be on a different plane then the orc that died when be making a D’Orc……wouldn’t that stop Orcus or Tom being able to create D’Orcs from orcs that had died fighting beside Orcus / Tom in a battle….you could easily lose a valuable fighter this way???
Good points, I wonder if he needed to do it this way the first time to open up the skill? Much like how he saw how rifts were made, thought on it and then just tore his own.

With that said, it seems that the ritual isn’t exactly specific to the race of the creature. Now that Tom has all these new followers, when will we see dw’arcs and dw’elfks? I would imagine that some of those folks on Nysgaard that have been saved and sheltered by the d’orc’s and seeing their longevity would be dying for the chance. Especially since there it’s the FOG…. they wouldn’t see it as being evil or unnatural at all.

While the ritual is awesome, it does bring into play the logistical issues mentioned.

Table of Contents: Just chop it off. Unnecessary waste of space and just by looking at it, would it really be helpful to the reader? If you must have one at least give per chapter a short descriptive title though this would be like a spoiler.
I can agree with this. It wasn’t much of a concern for me though, I simply ignore TOC.
Preface: Chop or move to the back.
Agreed. While it was interesting it was dry and somewhat boring. Although, having read it, I did find it come in handy later on in the story. So I do think it is valuable, just not at the front. Though, I did like the timeline.
Starting from Chapter 121. Chop off Vaselle’s scenes. As for the dimensional gate invention, could probably explain how it came to be when they first used it for some important scene. Didn’t recall any in the book.
WhAAAT???? No No No, I love Vaselle. I was happy to see so much of him. I liked the explanation of the dimensional gate invention. Maybe there was a bit tooo much information that could be simplified or condensed, but I enjoyed actually seeing someone work through the “technology”. So much just “happens” that it was a refreshing perspective.
Rupert and er company, forgot his name. Could chop off their scenes as well after the shaman meeting. Don’t think we need to learn he won a drinking contest.
I disagree, Rupert and Rog are cute and fun and add another facet to the characters in the story. I would also imagine that Rupert still has quite a part to play in the arc, we don’t want to lose them. However, if we actually saw more of them in relation to Tom, creating a stronger link, I think the parts they have would feel more in place instead of out of place.
Chop off the too many tea time scenes where so and so were discussing the current events (or at least make em shorter) while they eat/drink something.
As long as it’s not chopping out wine time, I suppose I agree 🙂
Chop off Damien and other people’s scenes where they don’t really do anything. Like the one where he does a disappearing act before Jenn confronts vaselle. Do we even need Vaselle to meet Teragdor? We could just get rid of the scenes that resulted from that encounter.
Because Jen is so minimal in this story that scene did seem a little odd. But, I felt it necessary to include Damien as his being at the party/battle in 2 was very obvious, we have to have it tied off or at least referenced in 3 for continuity. I personally enjoyed Vaselle and Teragdor meeting. It also leads to possible future information shares 😉

So, my 2cp so far. In my next read I’ll look for things that seem like they aren’t necessary.

Ah, slipping back into the lovely warmth of the abyss is always delightful! I have completed my first read of the beta version released on the 3rd. I simply flew through it. It moved along quite nicely. I do have a few general comments or questions that simply filtered across my mind the first time I read.

First, while Rupert and Rog did make their appearance, it almost felt like an after thought. Other than the one reference Tom made about being a bad father and his finally releasing the secret of his immaculate conception toward fatherhood… there really wasn’t much of a connection between them. Their relationship in book one and two was so much a focus that it was noticeably missing in book 3.

For new readers, how much were we exposed to the ranger god? To me, he just seemed to come in out of nowhere and was suddenly taking a center stage. I actually have to look at the site to find out more about it. Maybe it’s just me, but I felt that it was a little rough with this introduction to him.

I generally like the pace, but there is a lot of skipping around very quickly. I know you have concerns about the length and there is so much to share, but I don’t mind the length when it helps add more smoothness.

Lilith… She just got her ass handed to her with those chaos folks… Whatever happened with that, there is foreshadowing that there may be kick back for her in her use of them for the battle. But the big battle and those baddies were prime at the end of book 2. Now in book 3, they are just kind of an after-thought. I would have expected to see just a bit more about them, even maybe a segment or two introducing their involvement or at least investigation. Lots of references about them not liking that absolute zero was found as a weakness… but where are they? WHere do they come from? How did she get them to work for her… where is the fallout?

Where are our little snippets of adventure as our two brilliant mages attempt to try more creative ways to open the book? We again got a little foreshadowing about the relationship between Tizzy and his book but we didn’t see hide nor hair of it. Considering how pivotal it is to the overall arc of the story. I expected to see at least one humorous attempt by Jeh & Len (hehehe, JehLen can be their little pet name) to open it where it then goes agro and tries to eat them!!!

Speaking of Tizzy… that conversation between Ramses and Exador… it felt a little off where he didn’t think TIsdale was Tizzy. I mean, he’s a brilliant strategist who has pulled the wool over the eyes of not only the casting classes but the gods themselves… that conversation just struck me as weak.

Anyway, I intend to read over it again and this time look more deeply into the questions and thoughts I had, as well as any of the little nitpicky grammar and mechanics that woke my inner grammardemonnazi.

So, since I shared all that “negative” criticalness. I have to say, AWESOME! OOooo, I’m so excited that he’s learned the ways of dorkitude. When’s he going to try to Dorkitude a human or dwarf? I want to see a dw’ark!!!! I LOVE Vaselle, he is SOOOO cute. I just want to wrap him up in lots of demonic yumminess and put him on the shelf.

    TTFN!!!

Here I am a mother of 3 little monkeys… one a self proclaimed demon king. I dunno where she gets that. Must have been a wild weekend I slept through. Anyway, my kindle is burning the midnight oil and I’m dredging the bottom of the barrel for zombie books and post apocalyptic adventures that I HAVENT already read. Getting pretty slim, so it’s time to start reading my fav’s over. I pop in here to see how much longer I MUST wait for book three and saw this thread. I am about to start reading book 1 and 2 again, so I’ll probably be done with them next week. I would LOVE, LOVE Loooooove to spend some quality time in Astlan. Could I pretty please with sugar, honey and ice cubes be a beta demon too?

I know such simple bribery would never sway anyone… but I had to try 🙂

Well, I just finished off book 2 again. I’m so ready for book 3. I really hope I am lucky enough to be a beta reader so I can get my junky fix in. Too much demon weed must have been infused and now I’m addicted again!

I’m wondering how quickly the scrying ball will make its rounds of the great and energizing battle.

I have to say, I am so happy to have not asked my husband for my Kindle Unlimited account. He likes to say no to such things. Always better to ask forgiveness than permission, as I always say.

Any hoo, I stumbled across Into the Abyss the other day. Actually, I got the first book on my birthday, which was Sunday. I’ll have you know that the interest I had in the story definitely pulled me away from my really important plans of playing Fallout 4 all day. Anyway, I burned through it. I was very entertained. Then I had to get my poor, tired eyes started on the Heavenly Host.

I love a good sized kindle book. Makes me feel like I actually have a meal to leisurely enjoy. I simply consume the words to fast to properly enjoy those teeny tiny little ones. Because I had to know where it was going and what was happening. I read it fairly quickly, even for me. While there was a bit of bouncing around, and some bits were indeed less interesting than others. I very much enjoyed your world, your characters and your tone. You’ve got a strong voice.

While I’m sad Apostles of DOOOOOooooommmmM! is not available, I suppose I should be thankful because my old eyes need a break and my children think I’m not meeting their needs or something because I simply had to finish the story…

I saw you have quite the online social presence going and since I was surfing your forums, figured I may as well leave a hello, howareya?

Cheers. Keep up the good work. I look forward to your next installment. yaddayaddayadda
