Heh, heh you note that we mentioned it had it’s own independent power supply? :d/

The problem is, they’re just sitting there, sleeping. Not actively generating much mana, however they do produce a lot just by existing.

Doom has a very large primary mana pool and several auxiliary ones (subject to limitations on multiple MPs) (see all the crystals in the basement–these were used to create them)

The amount Doom can produce is definitely limited by the number of people there. At the moment it’s very weak compared to what it used to produce when there were 25 to 30 thousand people living there, demons, d’orcs, titans, deities. Also, don’t forget there were 666 Doomalogues out there generating power. Each with mana pools and thousands of people living nearby having shamanic ceremonies, parties, wars etc.

Purer mana is basically going to be higher octane, you need less of it do the same thing. This is one big advantage the gods have.

We talked about using our guests for filtering, but decided against it as the flow would not be regular enough and fluctuations would risk destabilizing them and the system. I.e. wake them up. Decided at the time it wasn’t worth the risk. You really don’t want to suddenly have a bunch of angry gods, titans and monsters awake and rioting your basement.

    Not fun!

It’s a bit more complex than that.

One big thing to keep in mind is that the gods really don’t like deploying their resources on the material planes for a variety of reasons.

There are several things that keep the various gods at bay but the biggest is other gods. Anytime one god or pantheon gets too involved on a material plane it attracts the others and war can escalate.

I think you need to view the entire thing as a game of “Powers” and “Super Powers” not unlike conflicts between nations, particularly during the colonial era, and even during the cold war and today.

The material planes are the central power supply for the gods. It’s also supposed to be “shared territory” if one pantheon starts getting too much undo influence somewhere, others will move in to stake their claims.

The worshipers on various planes are basically colonists who send valuable resources back to the “old country” e.g. outer plane. Every pantheon has its colonies from which it extracts mana. It’s a balancing act.

At the moment, Doom is still weak (they are missing 20K+ warriors and 664 doomalogues), and its biggest ace in the hole is Tartarus. With Orcus gone, it was a “hope and pray to ourselves” that the system doesn’t break down and people escape. Now that Tom’s there? Doom once more has a key and means to open the prison and let angry people out.

As a god, you really don’t want a kraken popping up on your favorite world and wiping out your largest cities.

And there are worse things than the titans in Tartarus. Notice how you haven’t seen any of those eldritch tentacle gods running around in millenia? That could change.

In any event, part of the rebuilding will be rethinking old strategies and how power is distributed.

And finally, you are only starting to see what the D’Orcs can actually do. You will see much more in Book IV. I know for a fact that Ragala-nargoloth and Aarg-nargoloth are going to be making thunder and lightning in places other than the bedroom! Almost pity those alfar in their little temple on top of the dead doomalogue….
Just had the update pushed to me. Font now black as intended.
Cool Hopefully that’s the version where Goto works properly and isn’t a page or two off. If it’s off it means there is still a newer one…

Well, we know he can’t stand bad press. So that would explain a lot.

I’m very glad the Demi Urge doesn’t tweet. I now have a pretty good idea what that would be like…

He’s got a lot. 3 top tier ones that are each divided internally into multiple warring sects. It’s literally like a free-for-all of worshipers, each of the splinter groups warring and competing against each other for his attention and affection.

I mean, it’s not that unusual for worshipers of different gods with a pantheon working to out do, or defeat the followers of the other gods in the pantheon, but when you are the only god in the pantheon? It’s an odd system.

    Hmm,

The problem was supposedly from what’s called Sender Protection Framework, where some email systems check to verify if a server is authorized to send email from a domain.

I updated this in the DNS records and that should have fixed it, it did seem to cut down on this problem. But not completely.

    Need to try something different.

Yes, this is due to Calibre mistranslating the color of the font when going from Word to epub. I had to “strip color from fonts” in the Calibre settings, and that fixed it for the epub.

With a word or html document it doesn’t happen, but those were having other problems.

I finally had an “ah hah, stupid me moment” today.

I’m sure you’ve read my account of DOCX files not working and the HTML not having a TOC for the navbar. etc.

So today I had the “aha” idea of opening the saved HTML file in Word which is what created it, and deleting the html ToC and saving the document as a new DOCX and recreating the ToC

I uploaded that a couple hours ago and VOILA. It took it with no problems. Fonts are good (at least on the simulator), ToC works as it should, as does Begining and I’m hoping whatever was wacky with KCR will be fixed.

The ONLY weirdness is the bullet points in the Preface. They look fine on phone and tablet, but show up as boxes with question marks on the Paper White. They are just normal word bullet points. But, I said enough, it is just a weird bullet.

So, once this is done propagating, people can ask for the latest version and should have a fully functional copy (I hope, not sure on KCR they won’t get back to me)

Thus, my hope is that on Sunday, they will push it out to everyone.

    Speaking in hidden text:
One should think so.

Of course, one also notes that Bess and the Nyjyr Ennead laughed at Ramses for not recognizing her as a goddess from when he was mortal.

It would also seem odd that she doesn’t recognize Exador as the Vicar General of the Rod who ordered her people slaughtered. Talk about irony. It’s not like he even changed his name.

It would also, in reverse, seem odd that Exador doesn’t recognize her (as Ramses doesn’t) as a goddess of a pantheon he ordered wiped out.

So one must assume that there is more afoot than all parties are revealing.

Now to be fair to Exador and Ramses, what the Nyjyr Ennead is doing in the Abyss is pretty much unthinkable, no gods would ever do this (except Orcus, but then people don’t know/realize he’s a god) and it certainly would break the Balance and cause all sort of issues with the Tribunal if deities, sworn to stay out of the Abyss, actually had a base of operations in the Abyss.
That won’t help.

To get the new version you have to go to Kindle Support on your account page.

fill out some questions along the lines of other and get to where either they call you or you chat with them.

Tell them that there are quality updates available and that you want them pushed to you.

Once they do that, you then go to Manage Content and should see the Updates Available button which you click.

They are still not responding to T-A-G’s emails.

If you are not seeing the updates…

From your account page, along the top menu look for “Kindle Support” and click on that and then click on “Contact Us”

Wend you way through the questions answering things like

    Select an Issue: Kindle eBooks
    Select issue details: Kindle E-reader
    Select additional details: Something else

Box 3 will give the option to contact them via phone or chat.

Explain your problem, give them the ASIN of the book: B01N6DL30K

Tell them the author has updated the book and you want the updates, they should push them to you.

If your issue is with the Kindle Cloud Reader, tell them it doesn’t work (assuming it doesn’t) and that the author has personally told you that it should work and that it is a problem on the Amazon side.

    Yes, he was there!

T-A-G really likes him, but needs to let others audition and then get him over that “It’s a long book thing”

Suggestion by T-A-G was to break it up into parts, say 2 parts per book, this is an artifact of Audible “Unlimited” vs Audible book.

Really going to take more research..

I know, there are all sort of Kindle translation issues that are driving T-A-G nuts and Kindle Tech Support is on holiday..

The Kindle PW had font issues making it unreadable, fixes killed off the fonts and Kindle Cloud Reader is a no go for no obvious reason.
