So you don’t think the Concordenax fills some deity-like duties for the demons, in the absence of an actual deity?
If so, would some small amount of mana trickle over to him from all the younger demons who’ve never SEEN him, but still BELIEVE in him? (Yes, I know we don’t know if it’s a him, but I refuse to type him/her/it–that’s dumb imo.)
GelcubeMemberIt would really be neat to see some werewolves in AOD. I’ve always thought they were much cooler than vampires. Vampires always remind me of leeches or mosquitoes. Plus, Warren Zevon didn’t do a “Vampires of London”, did he? I’d think that werewolves would be an integral part of the FOE…if they’re not just a myth in Astlan.
I suspect (because I’m a cynical Cube), that the Talarius/True Love adventure will occur in Book 4. We’ll need an awesome cliffhanger for Book 3, and Talarius finding out about his True Love right at the end of AOD will do that nicely. Dun-dun-DUUUUUN!!!
GelcubeMemberWhat I was stereotyping was that werewolves would be too cool to WANT to be in the FOG! That’s something a lame, sparkly, emo vampire would do!
And “Werewolves of London” would SO be my ringtone if I was a werewolf.
As a certified member of the “Eat anything organic” club, I can’t throw stones at vegetarians, though they do seem to be on the slightly unhinged side to me.
BTW, your attempt to sidetrack me from the AOD cliffhanger of Talarius/True Love failed. I still think the last paragraph will be Talarius finding out about his lady.
GelcubeMember
Hmm, could be, or maybe it happens in the middle of AOD?
Maybe he goes on a mission to rescue her? Of course, he’d probably need to get War Arrow into the Abyss, along with barding and a lance so he could charge Asmodeus.
I can see that! Though, I’m wondering if he’ll ask Tom for help, or just ask to go. Talarius has shown that his oaths can be superseded, but in THH, he seems to have regretted breaking his oaths for ANYthing, so it may be that the oath of hostage he gave Tom might actually cause him some internal grief before he breaks it to pieces. I somehow doubt he’ll want to ask Tom for help. Although…he may twist the oath to his benefit. It’s generally accepted that a hostage must be protected from harm. If Talarius were to wander off to the courts to confront Smody, he’d very likely get harmed. So, he may corner Tom into helping with the oath. I doubt he’d ever believe Tom would just help. After all, that’s not something a Dark Overlord does, right?
GelcubeMember
Nope, none of the Dark Overlords that I have met would do that.
It would be very demon like of Talarius to twist the oaths around to force Tom to help him.
I like that, it would be very corrupting.

Well, Antefalken DID say he was like a demon in the Abyss.
…I wonder if he could be summoned?
GelcubeMemberYeah, you’re right. Of course, Antefalken could’ve just been messing with his head. You and Ante seemed to take a little more pleasure than the others in baiting Talarius.
Not that he didn’t deserve it.
GelcubeMemberA couple of amusing things popped into my thoughts this morning.
What if…
There are geeky demons that trade the equivalent of trading cards for major demons, gods, and other extra-planar creatures. Maybe that’s why Lesteroth knows about Sekhmekt. He has her card! It’s likely a rare foil, too. How long will it be before Tom gets a card? And leading into that…
How long before Tom has to deal with GROUPIES.
Would they call themselves Tommies? Mmm, FanToms? GelcubeMember
The big problem Tom has at this moment is that he brought most all of his link buddies to the Abyss; and thus he had no easy way to return them to their homeworlds/cities. That will have to change; he will need more independent mechanisms to travel the planes.
I wonder how the other Demon Princes and archdemons do that? It seems they can pop up just about anywhere they like.
GelcubeMemberAny excuse to party, I suppose. D’Orcs seem to take their parties really seriously. I kind of like that.
I hope one of these short stories you and T-A-G have been teasing us with mentions some of this stuff.
GelcubeMemberOoooh, my head would hurt if I had one. BUT, that would be much more hilarious than a lot of the other things I’ve thought up.
GelcubeMemberWe’re not, uhh, “theater people”.
But, if we want to wish a cube or slime good luck, it’s
. Roughly translated, “May your prey be slow”. GelcubeMember
However, there is no reason that gods can’t come into the Abyss. They just get cut off from their god pools and pantheon pools so all they have are their own (considerable) mana resources.
Gods in the Abyss. Sounds like a D’Orc Doom Metal band!
Of course, there is also the problem that if the alvar find out, the two will be going to alvaran jail, or maybe the stake for consorting with the FOE.The alvar appear quite calm and rational to most humans, but the really are a rather bloodthirsty lot when riled up.
Oh…I just had a thought. What if the alvar DO find out, and tie up Jenn and Gastropè for a good burning at the stake, and as the flames leap up, Tom uses the fire to pull them out and save their lives! SQUEEE!!!
Yeah the cookies could probably help him on that.
Mortals love demon weed as very small doses greatly facilitates all sorts of transcendental states.
The problem of course is that it’s not as effective on demons as it is for mortals. It’s sort of like x-glargh vs glargh. Glargh gets mortals wasted, but it takes x-glargh to effect demons. You can imagine what x-glargh would do to a mortal. Well…actually you don’t, if they drink very much they die, otherwise they get very sick.
Oh, oh, another thought! Your magic cookies dunked in Denubian Choco-Coffee™! Now THAT will knock your socks off! If…you know…you wear socks…or have feet.
GelcubeMemberThat’s actually a very simple incantation. For a copy of the balling of when Jenn finds out about Tom, I’ll show it to you. o:)
GelcubeMemberOoooh, Oak Orcs of the Antilles sounds really interesting. It would be especially neat to see what people (specifically orcs) think about Tommus from outside. Also, it would be VERY interesting to see if Trig could pull mana from Tom like a…priest. Heheheheh.
I imagine that would definitely kickstart The Church of the Dark Lord Tommus.
Naturally, Oooorcs in SPAAAAAAACE would be cool anyway.
Seas of Astlan will be interesting. PIRATES! ARRR! I could listen to the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack while reading it!
Kristof Torson. I hope he’s either a non-typical Prince of Awesome, or the Annoying Super-Prince Archetype.
A POV story from one the D’Orcs
Oh, now THAT’s an idea. OR, maybe Lesteroth or Bellyachus will join Tom’s crew, and get paired with a D’Orc. Think of all the adventures! Like a demonic Lethal Weapon. Which is Riggs, and which is Murtaugh?
GelcubeMemberBahahahaha!!!
