Well, the people most likely to have chest pains can’t have chest pains, at least not from their hearts, they can, however, have phylactery pains.

Ruiden and Talarius discuss this in Beta 1

Member
So in bk1 when the sky fleet shows up at freehold they have warrants for all our cast meaning jenn, maelen, Gastope, Edwyrd, and Rupert.
But they also had questions they had wanted to ask lenamare. Did that happen off page or not happen at all?
That rather went nowhere. Actually, I need to go back and check if the entire fleet left, or just half of it, like the Rod.
They may still be around Freehold, which could get interesting, because while they are fine to let the Rod in as the big scary Exador prepares his army to destroy the city, but letting Oorstemoth in? Particularly if they want to serve a warrant on Lenamare, who is critical to the defense of the city…

Member
Different question is The Sun on nysegard referred to as atun or fierd.
Page 39 Exador thinks about liches being nocturnal but not being bothered by the “fierd” so is it fierd on nysegard or some other reason?
Do the liches know that Ramses and Exador are arch demons? It says that when the lich says ”we summoned you. It was a slight against an archdemon pg 40.
Also “an arch demon” sounds wrong. If Exador is referring to himself “the archdemon” would probably be better.
It is Fierd is the name of Astlan’s star, Atun is the name of Nysegards.
However, Exador has been living almost exclusively in Astlan for around two thousand years, so much like Tom thinks of the local star as the Sun and sunlight, Exador thinks of it is Fierd, even if it isn’t.
The trick is to be clear and consistent, to make this understood. I try to do that in context, but doesn’t always work.
Changed slight sentence to:
“Exador suppressed a grimace of annoyance at the lich’s use of the word ‘summoned’ both knew that the lich meant it as an intentional slight against him.”

MemberThat is actuallly a great catch! Many won’t get it.
First, do I spell it different in the two places?
The Knights of the El Ohim actually mean it in the older, plural sense Eloh-im ( the -im was originally the plural form) So they are the “Knights of the Gods.” Which is why in the tavern in Agnothnon he says to Talarius: . “Our Order is faithful to and respects all the Gods of Light.”
This will/may someday (if I get there in some book) tie out to The Concord of Conciliation and the Balance that Beragamos discusses with the other avatars in Chapter 126

MemberGood point; I need to have Tom etal talk about what they are doing.
They are currently looking to charge Astlan, Ithgar, Etterdam and Romdan because that’s where the parties are. So they are split charging–however, Etterdam’s is not charging like it should, because Lilith broke it.
So things are going slower since they are splitting the charging.
However, one big problem they have is that they do not necessarily have enough D’Orcs to man these Doomalogues–unless they find some at the Doomalogues.
And that’s another thing I need to include in Beta 1!
The Etterdam D’Orcs were all forced back to Doom. They would not have been permanently killed.
Actually, that’s another problem to consider. From Beta 1, and common sense, we know that the D’Orcs can choose to return to the Abyss and Mount Doom because they are anchored there. So shouldn’t the D’Orcs at all the 666 Dooms have returned, unless they had a reason to stay there?
Lots of issues here.
The Author Guy
MemberActually…this should be in Alpha 3 at the end of Chapter 139: Smithy of Doom: Late Sixth Period
I think….
The Author Guy
MemberYou mean before they lost their shamans?
I need to think on this more; there are other issues with the “original story” Tom was told, it was a simplified version and he’s going to eventually have these same questions. Can’t fix last book, but can try to clear up in this one.
For one thing, Hephaestus and Volund can travel to planes, they could have loaned a hand as well.
But I think the big thing is that they were sort of hunkered down in a bunker mentality sitting on the “egg” that was Tartarus.
Also, Darg-Krallnom and Arg-nargoloth are members of the Tartarvardenennead and powerful avatars of Orcus? They are over 60,000 years old? If Exador and Rames and become arch-demons in 4,000 years, are these D’Orcs sitting on their butts?
In partial answer to this, I was going to demonstrate what Arg-nargoloth could do with Ragala-nargoloth on her quest. Did not have time to get to it this book.
But the answer is, the very senior commanders can plane hop if they know where they are going and have a link. It’s the same problem that Tom had returning his guests. So they could have figured out something, at the least they should have been able to visit Nysegard once people had done the volunteering thing
I’m going to assume the main reason they did not was Tartarus and fearing to leave it. This is the big reason Volund stuck around.
So I need to work on this across the board.
However, I need to do this after Beta 1 is released. I need to focus on getting that done first.
I am going to create a Forum called things to do with Beta 1. Let’s put these tabled issues there. There are several of them and digging them out of the current topics may lead to missing things.

MemberLOL!
The Author Guy
MemberIt’s driven a number of people nuts, and still causes me some confusion in terms of capitalization
So much revolves (pun) around the word sun, the Sun.
One thing that highlights this comes with the battle in Nysegard. Lots of talk about atunset and atunrise, But if you say “they will attack soon after Atun sets” you capitalize it because its a name. Lots of things we just don’t think about with the Sun.
Also “she had a fierdy smile” really disturbed my editor for some reason.
The Author Guy
MemberOnce the Doom of Nysegard reacted, it should be raining, or at least misting all of the time in Krallnomton.
Krallnomton sits at the base of the volcano surrounded by storm clouds, someone needs to comment on the fact that they haven’t seen atun in days, etc. Talarius and his rusty magic armor

MemberHi
As with the last beta, we have more people reading than commenting.
Speak up! Do not be intimidated by the bigger demons! They’re mostly all all claws, fangs and horns, very few fireballers and lightning throwers.
I value everyone’s input!
It doesn’t have to be profound or deep or an error. I need your opinions! What you like, what you don’t like.
Do not be afraid to disagree with other people!
We need discussion, disagreement and above all honesty!
So speak up, make yourself heard!

MemberOk,
Lots of heavy stuff going on. Currently I am at 252,000 words. I suspect Beta 1 will come out at about 260,000 to 265,000 words.
Which obviously means I won’t be releasing it today, Friday. But I do hope to have it out Sunday evening
There is going to be a LOT to chew on, scenes people have been waiting for, and scenes you might not be expecting.
Good news: The D’Orcs and demons are on the field of battle with the avatars of Tiernon, side by side against the storm lords.
Yes, you did hear me, Tom, Talarius and Hilda all fighting together (or at least on the same battlefield–and yes, they have all met and was it ever uncomfortable for many of them)
