A ghoul is someone that is infected with antimus, and in order to survive, and not age and decay, ghouls have to eat live flesh (or very very fresh flesh)

ghouls are alive but very sick. They are driven by ravening hunger for flesh (they can’t get enough from blood to satisfy their needs as they can’t process blood like a vampire)

ghasts are ghoul “bosses” (in the game sense) they are ghouls that can mostly control their hunger, either because they are very old ghouls and have adapted and can better process animus when they eat, or various other possibilities, perhaps they were drain more and got close to being a vampire.

a wight, is a zombie ghoul or ghast.

Yes, will be filling this out/fleshing it out, so to speak.

Zombie grinding is the best thing, definitely.

Particularly because, as Teragdon muses, some zombies can use their detached limbs to continue to attack. Evil Dead style.

Of course, if you must slice vs crush, then you need to use a food processor or a blender.

And for that, we shall soon have Ruiden the sword golem!

He too can generate kinetic energy from nowhere.

Of course, on Nysegard, every kid gets a set of building blocks designed to get them thinking about counter-Unlife strategies and tactics at an early age, and even four-year-olds easily surpass these simple concepts.

The objective of the agility track is to magnify the advantages humans have over zombies, and magnify the disadvantages zombies have compared to humans.

For Earth-based anti-zombie compounds, they are a set of thigh-high stakes hammered in the ground form a large grid of 3m x 3m squares. The stakes are connected to each other with multiple tiers of tensioned steel wire, and on top of the stakes goes a plank highway leading towards safety.

It’s all about reducing the risk severity gradient. Zombies can slowly topple over each grid wall, losing some flesh each time, while humans can simply walk through. If a human makes a mistake and falls, rectifying that is very simple. All of the poles support each other, so large numbers of zombies can’t easily break the protection. Everything is easily repairable. If you run out of steel wire, you can modify the design with wood.

I think he would probably have to reforged, which would hurt.

And we don’t know that he is a “demon slaying sword” in the likes of a “soul sucking sword”

Used against Tom in book 1, he did not permanently slay Tom.

Of course, perhaps in the Abyss, he could????

But what we do know is that Ruiden really enjoys killing demons. And he’s better at it than most other weapons. Same is actually true for Unlife.

The big thing about Ruiden, aside from being extremely sharp and light weight, is that as an intelligent sword he helps direct himself to critical spots.

That’s the big thing, you note how it is mentioned that he twists himself in Talarius’ grip to hit critical locations. So, for example, if he and Talarius wanted, he could work to always try and sever heads, or limbs, like a vorpal sword –snicker snack–snicker snack

The mirror is still at the camp. I am sure, if Barabus knew who was on the ship with him, he would regret leaving it with Iskerus.

Correct, golemize, fly and attack independently (as a golem), very sharp, lots of damage including magical damage (normal weapons don’t work against demons) and improved accuracy by guiding himself intelligently.

He can also see and hear (without eyes or ears) and speak. He’s also telepathic.

That is what we know so far.

When Rupert was in the rod camp he was found out from the mirror.

What happened to that mirror? Did barabus end up taking it with him when he was kidnapped?

Anyways Talarius cut off Rupert in mid change from human to demon. Then faded to the abyss.

So other than killing a demon incredibly fast and aiming for the neck we haven’t seen much about what ruiden can do.

Oh and golemize? Become a golem? Not sure what the correct term is in astlan.

He (Ruiden) also has un-foolable(?) demon detection abilities.
He also appears to be really good at reading auras and such to detect and identify saints, archons and djinn.

We haven’t really seen where both the mirror and ruiden came from.

Also, a question, ruiden didn’t talk to Talarius until after he golemized and was more vague feeling type of communicator right?

bingo on the detection thing. Forgot that. Need to really add Ruiden as a true character to my notes, have not done that…which is racist (artifactest?) of me.

Correct, he did the directing thing, Talarius knew that he was “intelligent” or something, they had empathy, but Ruiden had never mentally spoken to Talarius before the golem thing. It was really a very traumatizing experience for Ruiden that pushed him to “grow” as a person (sword/golem)

Oh dear Tiernon, am I going to have to write a side novel or short story about Ruiden’s history now? A book who’s protagonist is a magic sword?

Hmm, that could be challenging and interesting if done well.

When you think about Ruiden is 4000 years old. He’s seen some stuff assuming he wasn’t locked away in an armory or stuck in cave/dungeon if his wielder fell in battle.

I’ve read another book about an intelligent sword that was pretty good. Be interesting to have that, maybe his meeting of Talarius or the wielder just before?

Hmm did ruiden not see EM as a corrupting and what not.?

I mean he could recognize saints and djiin.

Unless it was affecting ruiden as well!

Gasp! Evil sword of demon slaying!
