Good points.

I would say I am not an expert on Chaos Maelstrom’s and exactly what the bubble they are in, when in a Maelstrom is. In the Abyss, they were riding with in it on horses. I am doubting they would be riding in horses in outer space. My bet is that they were in some sort of spacecraft.

Because while it is true that Tom froze them out in the Abyss, and thus it is possible they might not survive in the vacuum of space (unlike a demon for example), neither can humans. Not sure if you’ve seen what happens to a human shot out an airlock, without a space suit, but it isn’t pretty.

Anyway, the maelstrom, the inky blackness, was actually taken down by the gravity canons, not the cold. And I should point out that it was not just cold, but mana suction also. Tom was using the doomnet to suck all the heat out, AND, all the mana. Being agents of Chaos, the Knights, with sufficient mana should be able to warm themselves, and shield themselves, but Tom was actually sucking the mana out of the region also, thus depriving them of the ability to get more mana, and possibly even stealing mana they had.

So in someways, it was not unlike what happened to the avatars and Orcus, in interdiction regions. The difference was, that was cutting off energy from other planes, in this case it was sucking up all the mana in the region, keeping them from getting more, or at least slowing them down enough so that they could be weakened and killed.

It wasn’t the cold so much that killed them, it was literally Talarius, D’Orcs and Sekmekt’s forces. Tom just weakened them enough so they could be more effective.

As far as where the shaman would be to see the maelstrom, that depends on what adjacent planes, etherial and astral etc. it exists on. In terms of what a shaman can see from M-space…I am going to leave that for OOA, where that is an important factor in the story.

Of course, you realize that was exactly what I was thinking when I wrote that.

I have to admit, that in my very short life, I have never actually tried dunking a human in interstellar vacuum to see what happens. I know, I know, we all have our regrets and our ‘bucket list.’ So that is my reference point.

I do sort of wish we had a Doomalogue on Mars. It’s a very nice planet, tad chilly, but the landscape is very homey. And no fireballs. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing. They are very pretty, but also a bit distracting.

Actually, I did the bacon thing myself. Took about 3.234 million years to get it crunchy but…very tasty….a tad time consuming though.

Now you wouldn’t be giving your age away would you Tizzy? :-$
Not at all! That would be impossible for me to do, since I have no idea how old I am! I’ve just been as long as I have been, no longer, no less. In fact, I can honestly say that I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t. Thus I have no idea when I started, since I can’t remember anything before that time.

    Hi,

Dredgying this up from other posts.

When we moved the site to a new location with a new firewall, some time ago. That firewall got mad our the avatar system the site uses, claiming there was some sort of illegal relinking going on and it started blocking the avatar images.

So, the best thing to do is to use gravatar.com It’s free and a tone of forums/discussion groups recognize it.

Create and account and you can then register email addresses and associated avatar images to that account. Any forum/site that knows about gravatar will then use the gravatar image associated with your login account as your avatar image.

    Done.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but the only thing that goes in my mouth that isn’t eaten is my pipe.

I even swallow my chewing gum, bubble gum, toothpaste, mouthwash, boogers, you name it. My pie hole is a one way slide to my gullet and then…hmm…I don’t know, nothing’s ever come out the other side. Never thought of that. Wonder where it’s all going?

    P.S.

That guy’s motto in terms of alternative mana users is “Thou Shall Not Suffer a Witch to Live!”

I mean come one, big guy. Most witches I know are perfectly lovely people! They are always making these delicious stews in their giant cauldrons, tasty, tasty.

Now, if the saying was: “Thou Shall Not Suffer a Wizard to Live!”

Well, that it is something I could get behind an support whole heartedly.

Sam’s adversary! That is some tasty soup! Those Newt Eyes just really give it a kick!

Where can I get me a witch with a giant pot full of soup?

Ahh, yes, now I get it.

As far as I can tell, Tiernon’s fine with unicorns, they are, in this case at least, half-human (all unicorns are half something and yet–full unicorns). So no different than half-orcs etc.

The thing is, it’s really the priesthood and the local “Churches” who have more issues with various races, not so much the gods themselves (except for some of course).
And as you may recall, the Inferno is ready to “rescue” Tiernon from the clutches of Lord Tommus at the Citadel of Light, so you’ll see their reaction to Orcs, Elves etc all working for Tiernon….
Of course people believe that unicorns are a symbols of purity and goodness, so they’d definitely be a positive thing to have in the Rod. Of course, they also think unicorns are just magical horses with horns. They don’t know about the shape shifting.
And they also don’t know that in order to procreate, the non-unicorn partner (male or female) has to be a virgin or reproduction won’t work. non-Virgins have impurities that prevent the formation of an embryo. So, a unicorn could have sex with a non-virgin non-unicorn, but what would be the point? Most either want to have a child or have sex with someone of the same species.
You will note that Danu, Tiernon’s mother is currently a major goddess of the The El’adasir in many realms, which in Astlan’s localverse is primarly alvaran She certainly has human worshipers.
Actually, you’ll see more of this in book 4 as we see more of her.
Hmm,

I don’t think it so much new as not well mentioned in the main text. It is mentioned in the appendices of book II on the description of the Etonians and here on this site.

In book III, it is veiled in the discussion in the Aviary with Nod and Danu, it was the locking up of her ex-husband that got her into the game to defeat Orcus.

But book IV will be very explicit about this as she more fully comes into play.

It’s one of those things that worshipers of the 5 Siblings all sort of know in the background but no one talks about. Unlike Aetherus’ Ghost….which is part of a number of common expressions.

    Heh, heh, heh.

Yes, everything thing you point out is generally true.

The Church of Tiernon (and Torean) have been heavily compromised in Astlan (at least). I mean, heck, they once had and archdemon as the Vicar General of the Rod! That seems a bit corrupted….

Take a look at the timeline here on the site.

Some key things to keep in mind happen about a thousand years ago.

They involve the end of Anilords, the death/defeat of Ramses the Damned, the Wizard Tisdale (no relation, no relation, obviously, I would never slum it as a wizard!) ,Vicar General Exador, the invasion of Natoor and Noajar (and the pain/suffering of the Nyjyr Ennead who want to destroy the 5 Siblings) and the Dark Apostle.

And of course, while not listed on the timeline, one should keep in mind where Sentir Fallon was in all of this.

Bess has remarked several times about what a fool Ramses is for not recognizing her as a goddess from Earth when he was Pharoah. Yet, she’s also hanging out with Exador, who was Vicar General of Tiernon right around the time the Rod and Rangers invaded the land of her worshipers and killed them.

Is Exador also being played by Bess? or is she sort of blind to the exact timing of when Exador worked for the Church of Tiernon in Astlan.

So yes, something very complicated is and has been going on…..

The 5 Siblings are going to have their work cut out for them.

Almost like there was a vengeful prophecy stalking them, but that would require a vengeful godlike being. Not sure where I can find one of those.

Don’t know much about this, I can’t download the audible in the Abyss, Audible claims they don’t license for the Abyss.

So I just kidnapped Stephen and forced him to read the books for me in the Abyss.

Fortunately, Vaselle was able to provide him with one of the newest air conditioners.

If only Wylan was on the Inferno, they would never get anything done with his eloquent and exquisitely efficacious, yet edifying and exemplary expository elocutions on everything!

    Super!
Trig, Varn Starsplitter and Dargh and Agletha Star Strider are finally on their way to the DSG and eventually the DOTA!

Seemed like they were stuck on that starbase in the Gradhagingr system forever getting the Skull Crusher repaired and then upgraded with the latest Doomnology.

Of course, Phaestus’ avatars are hanging back trying to upgrade the rest of the horde.
Knowing T-A-G I am sure the beta will be ready in a short eon!
