Running commentary as I watch.
I really thought that Vidar would have been bigger. As the fellow that is supposed to slay Fenrir by stepping on his lower jaw and breaking his head apart, the actor doesn’t really have that aura of menace that a God of Vengeance I would have thought he would have.
LunarmageMemberI will have to check this out. I fear that I will have to watch it alone. My girlfriend is more interested in the animated eastern stories than she is in the northern ones.
LunarmageMemberTizzy I think a couple of times in the books talked about Animages being able to summon demons, but it isn’t as formulaic or safe as the means that wizards do it. I believe that a couple of times someone makes that comment to Tom while in his Edwyrd guise when it is found that Tizzy is ‘his’ demon.
LunarmageMemberAuthor Guy, now you are just teasing us.
LunarmageMember
It’s actually above.
In terms of his crazy mana. The base version of a spell costs the square of the level of the spell and then there are modifiers to the cost based on extending the range, area of affect and damage.
E.g. by default a 3rd level Lightning bolt always does 3D6 damage up to some range for 9 mana points However, higher level characters can increase the range or the number of dice of damage by expending more mana.
High level Fireballs could get very expensive in that you have range, area of affect and damage to expand by spending mana (caster’s choice which, if not all, and how much, they want to do). So for example: a 30th level Wizard doesn’t have to do 30D6 worth of damage when the basic 3D6 is sufficient.
Which was the case in ADD 1.0, but limited in later versions. Here, it’s up to the caster and how much mana they want to spend. Maybe they want to completely vaporize the Giant Rat and give everyone else in the vicinity a new hair do, due to static electricity.
This is I think what most games now are missing. The flexibility of higher level characters to mitigate their own damage output. Yet another reason I would love to see this game hit the market, and to not be bought out by WotC.
LunarmageMemberSlightly off topic, where can we find this game ‘Animus’?
LunarmageMemberI want this game to exist. I need to play it. I would gladly help finish it.
LunarmageMemberI suspect that people who like your books sir, are ones willing to put in the time and effort to play a more complicated game. And really? Who WOULDN’T want to play a D’Orc?
LunarmageMember
[cursing] So maybe next time you should get to the battle before it starts so we can go over the score? I’m out there, on my own (other than the band of course), I could probably use some support in my endeavors. I certainly didn’t see you there ready to supply backup vocals, let along getting us sheet music!

Well excuse me for being an infant. I only came across the news of the battle after the fact. BUT, I will be happy to help with the playlist on the next battle. I mean we need to keep the moral of the D’Orc’s up and the enemy off guard. Nothing like following up ‘The Varyags of Mikligaard’ with ‘Hot Stuff’ to confuse the matter.
LunarmageMemberI’ve been thinking about this for a while now. And I think Thunderstruck was the wrong choice of song for this battle. Back in Black I think would have fit better. It was the first D’Orc battle in 4k years and the lyrics fit in with the return of Orcus/Thommus perfectly.
LunarmageMemberI have all three of the audio books from Audible, and they have all worked just fine for me. You can delete and then redownload it, and pick right up where you left off if you are using the Audible app.
LunarmageMemberAnother couple of questions have arisen.
1: Tal Gor: Is it correct to assume that his ‘Spirit Animal’ has come in the form of a gas spewing tummy rumbling D’Worg and he just hasn’t realized it yet?
2: If there is an open portal between Mt. Doom and Nysegard, why can’t the priests on the Inferno get access to their Gods in the Outer Planes?
LunarmageMemberI would also like to point out the conversation between Tizzy and Arg-nargoloth. If Tizzy didn’t have a direct hand in Orcus’ return, or at the very least he was the Shaman who gave the prophecy.
LunarmageMemberSo I am on my third listen of the series, and I keep coming up with questions. Also potential spoilers for books 2 & 3 below.

–1: Trevin D’Vils: Jenn and Gastrope keep making comments and having thoughts about how inappropropriate she is dressed. While it may be that what I find attractive (and old) may differ from other people, I am visualizing someone along the lines of Dame Helen Mirren in looks. Perhaps Tizzy or T-A-G could enlighten me further.
2: Exador: To me, Exador falls into one of three categories.
a: he is a complete buffoon and has managed to get as far as he has by sheer luck.
b: He has spent far too much time in Midgard to be truly considered an arch-demon in ability and deviousness or..
c: he isn’t as old as he would like to claim as an arch-demon and thus is trying to make up for his lack of ability by overcompensating by using far more power than is necessary for what he is trying to do. Another thing that makes me question the age and ability of Exador is his reaction to seeing Elrose in the balling of the fight with the Liches and he is surprised by how Elrose makes use of various trinkets and items that he has about his person.3: If this is discussed in future books, I will be satisfied to know that and wait, but…. how much mana/energy is required to perform a Phoenix Cycle? Does the Cycle require anything beyond just wishing it to be so? (i.e. a Pantheon/ Higher being to help to facilitate the Cycle). I ask, because it seems that there are only a few that know about it and even Tiernon seems to be considering it for the first time ever in book 3.
LunarmageMemberI notice Tizzy, that you do nothing to say anything about the other accusations against your proclamations of your Demon kind.
