Super list! Thanks! Will work my way through and comment/thank as they are dealt with!

Will adjust. There was some backfilling there.

When I first wrote the scene, I forgot he was missing, so I went back to try to clarify and probably only muddled it.

    Flagging for investigation.

Yes, there are lots of short scenes, not sure there are more than before but there are some.

Yes, there is a lot of book, they had to build the melted castle, took them a couple days. There was no melted castle before Lilith gives the instructions to Asmodeus. She told them where to put the place.

In the library, Tom is high from Demon Weed, he is doing a “grok”/”zen” thing (trying to be one with the robe) and it plays out, in his mind, to the Who Song Touch Me, Feel Me from the Rock Opera Tommy. In order to be able to shape shift himself into a piece of clothing, he sort of (or so he thinks) has to be “one” with the robe. It’s a very hippie sort of thing.

Cool on the Tal Gor teaching, really needs to do more of that across the board, of course, he is still learning and some of that teaching was extra creepy for him, because he was also channeling some orcus memories

Yes, that was the plan on AII. (and thanks, need to call it that). In point of fact, its voice is Siri, it’s visual appearance is Princess Lei as projected by R2D2 “Help me Obi Wan Kenobe” not sure that I’ve mentioned that. In any event, perhaps more interaction with the AII to further his worries about it.

Yes, Jenn and the crew do not do much in this book, they really are sort of just there until the next book. They will end up reconnecting with Tal Gor and the Doomalogue of Astlan party.

Yes, he is, trying to show he is very busy and getting harried, and trying to learn stuff. Recall, the book so far is only about 14 days long.

As for your last point, that’s the whole plot of the remaining 20%. Tom, Talarius & the Five Sibling representatives on Nysegard along with the Storm Lords.

    Hmm,

Interesting thought on that. And here I thought more advancement was coming this time than in Book 2.

Of course, a lot of this would be because the last 20% is not there. However, I want more movement in the earlier part as well.

That may shift the length of the book to something longer then. Or maybe I need to do more in earlier segments to highlight what is going on better.

It seems the Nimbus continues to be a drag for now.

    Very odd.

The epub is a zip btw, unzip and read.

Not sure why pdf is so huge, did it fast and direct from Word.

Let me see what I can do.

I had problems with some formats in calibre not catching the sub chapter headings.

in reply to: Beta book reporting #5606

Recreated the PDF using Soda PDF (vs MS Word 2016) now 2.2 Mb, much more reasonable.

It actually looked fine on my pc. Not sure what was up with 77 Mb. That does sound like printed pages.

Next version of all formats will be better, was very short on time tonight.

Monday’s will have Epub. Mobi and smaller PDF.

What you want direct links in posts?

Tizzy would kill me if I made it that simple!

And my luck, he’d do it in the Abyss so I’d be stuck there listening to him kvetch for the next 50,000 plus years.

    Excellent, yes!

in reply to: How long will the beta period last? #3769

So last time, it was more like 3 months.

    It was worth it though.

This time, I am “hoping” to have it last about 1 month, the editor is setup and ready, but realizes we may run late again.

We will take however much time is necessary.

The one month time period gets the book out around Dec 1, 2016. I have no problem with Jan 1, 2017 or Feb 1, 2017 or whatever it takes to get it right.

People not in the beta program will scream, but the book needs to be done and done right.

You should be redirected to the home page and see a message that you are a beta demon.

You will not, however, see the forum topics immediately, this has to sync and can take an hour or three. I will be periodically manually syncing it as well.

in reply to: Apostles of Doom Beta Demon Sign Up #5563

I highly recommend people read the other FAQ topics in the Beta Demon only forum.

Obviously some things change, links in particular, however all the more general an philosophical things are still true.

In particular, it is very important to understand how being a beta demon can alter your view of the story and possibly ruin the “pure reading enjoyment” of the finished book.

You will read things that no one else will know about, you will be privy to alternate timelines and events that may never end up transpiring.

Last time, there were some radical changes that drastically improved the quality of the story. If a beta demon only read the first version, and not the final version, they would have read a very different book, and possibly a more disappointing one.

Middle of the night…. +7 hours.

8 pm CDT is 3 am CEST.

Not sure of exact time, probably it will be more like 1 am CEST, depends on when I get stopped and how much of a pain the “publishing process is”

I think I have the publish to EPub and PDF down fine enough now, but always gotta look at conversion to not drive people insane.

Last time we tried several formats and PDF and EPub worked best.

    in reply to: Finally!!!!!!!!!! #5583

I can do mobi with Calibre but last time a couple people said that the epub format worked better on their kindle for formatting.

However, mobi in theory would have the x-ray file with your comments and highlighting…I think. They are so botching x-ray, I don’t know why they can’t get it right for characters and locations.

Alpha Edition (meaning missing last 20%) is now available

The Books | The Apostles of Doom Beta Book.

Please read the Alpha Reading topic/instructions.

If you have not, also read the Beta Demon FAQs

This is a bit cruder release than I normally due for the Beta’s but it’s all about getting it to you ASAP.

Monday version will be a bit cleaner from conversion process.

Epub version is zipped up so your browser will download it.
