MemberWill do more to bring this out.
As I’ve been going over the scene with the Nyjyr Ennead he does bring it up in his thinking. But it’s probably not strong enough across the board.
One thing I always worry about is “over doing it” but perhaps when there are so many balls in the air/different scenes/etc it is probably better to drive it home harder because it’s easy for stuff to get lost.

MemberI had zipped them both up, but it didn’t help a lot for the PDF, which is crazy sized–evil Word Wizard.
The epub zip had a different name, and they were both sitting there, grabbed the wrong one for the link.
It’s correct now. The name of the zip in the link is different from what you download but it is the correct epub.

MemberHi,
I have released Alpha-1.
It is not that much longer, about 8,000+ words more; but there has been reworked stuff and some editing to reflect comments.
In particular the Etterdam (Ragala-nargoloth) stuff has been expanded; I’d expand more, but am afraid of space limits. But you will at least see what is coming for her and her small but devastating army.
Did some reworking of Talarius/Ruiden, issues with Nysegard re-summoning, more stuff now happening in Freehold.
More details on the Dark Apostle to foreshadow what is coming (in this book) and how they killed Orcus.
Some rework on Tom’s thought process. Definite work on Torean and Tiernon and what they knew/did when wrt Sentir Fallon.
Would hope to do new release next weekend (probably Sunday).
I am getting closer to the point where I can do the last 20%, wanted to backtrack on stuff that people had mentioned.
I know I have not hit every issue covered. Be sure to bring up your issues that are outstanding.

The Author Guy
MemberIf you are up for that, it would be great.
I am working on the last part right now. Got some ideas from Alpha-1 wrt the training on how to deal with timing for the Unlife as well as a better way to bring Tal Gor and the Nimbus together.
Those points were my “sticking issues” on the last umpteen percent.
The Author Guy
MemberExcellent point! I was thinking of it more in terms of meaning “messenger” Orcs do technically allow for emissaries from those seeking to parlay/surrender. They will negotiate, it’s more the “culture of diplomacy” they despise.
But there could definitely be something better.
Time to go to thesaurus.com 🙂
I was trying not to use Apostle (yet)
You do recall how upset the D’Orcs got when Tom tried to compare Doomalogues and embassies.
The Author Guy
MemberIt is a good point but…
1) this is not a hunt, technically, but a mission, a job.
2) When you were Tal Gor’s age, would you have wanted one of your folks to go on your first job with you?But it is worth considering.
The Author Guy
MemberGood thing to note.
I was afraid it was too subtle before. May have overkilled it in this pass. It’s easy enough to not name the wizard involved with the Dark Apostle.
It really is also a question of how much people pay attention to the timeline. I need to only mention him once in the correct time period to associate him.

MemberBasically. What “we know” is that by coming to the Abyss, Melissance and her people were cured of ghoulism.
Now, if they go back to the material planes, will the ghoulism return? Not clear.
But here’s the thing, if someone from an antimus plane shows up in the abyss, they can go back to their antimus plane and be antimus again.
No different than positive people.
Presumably from the Abyss, demons could go to either antimus or animus planes, via summons/incarnation (presumably not via portal but who knows) not sure if anyone has tested it though.
Now, the thing is, there is animus and antimus. What the Unlife, however, does is “consume” animus to fuel it’s life in an oppositely charged plane.
The life draining is not so much a function of the fact that the Unlife/Undead is negatively polarized, so much as it is polarized in the opposite direction from how the body was created. In order to keep the body from falling apart, the undead/unlife needs new animus to replenish what it is destroying.
As far as the other thoughts you espouse….
:-$ We shall have to see.
The Author Guy
MemberWell….
Not sure if you read too much into it. I basically addressed this by having the other characters ask the question about “why” it didn’t work with BlackFarts (the english translation of her name)
So the question of whether D’Wargs don’t translate or whether it is Schwarzenfurze being a big black fart…will not be clear. 🙂
I would assume she’s a greater demon at this point. She’s been around for a long time.

MemberI have not got much done this week. Today I had time set aside for writing, but that got sucked up fixing the database issue.
Hoping to do a bunch tomorrow.
I can release alpha’s more often, but ideally I’d like to give people more “meat”
I could probably release them with some stats, like “what’s new” and then let people decide for themselves whether to read it or skip it.

Memberwell we know that Tizzy is AT LEAST 73,000 years old. There are people (D’Orcs) who have basically known him that long.
He could be much older. Same with Orcus.
We will most likely get to these answers at some point. I’m just not willing to commit to an answer “yet” Particularly with Orcus, I may need to do more backstory for him that I don’t “know” yet.
I do have a pretty good idea how old Tizzy is though.
The Author Guy
MemberFrom earlier (got lost after I had to roll the VM back to undo a broken SQL installation)
—————-Well, to be fair, they say that because that’s who does it normally. A god an their agents.
You need someone who can
a) issue/divulge the prophecy to a “prophet” so they need to have a prophet, typically only gods have prophets
b) then be around for centuries and manipulate events behind the scene to make the prophecy come true. Again, typically a god and their agents. So it’s really a matter of scale/expectation etc.
If one were particularly industrious and long lived, and had a prophet, one could carry out a prophecy without being a god.
So this means that
1) Tizzy would need to have a “known” prophet that could deliver this information to people and have them believe it.
2) Tizzy would need to spend the next 3900 years or so trying to make the prophecy come true and deliver an heir to Orcus. So the question comes, is it plausible that Tizzy would be capable of arranging all of this? That he would know where the wand was, and could manipulate events sufficiently to bring it all to fruition?

MemberIn Alpha 0 there is only 1 mention of the Dark Apostle
Alpha 1 goes into more details.
The Dark Apostle is toast/gone/eaten about 1,000 years ago by a runaway Cloud of Disintegration….
The DA was a Storm Lord that was involved in killing Orcus.
The Author Guy
MemberNot sure.
It’s a question of how much/how soon do people want?
The last 20% has not increased much, yet. It’s been editing/fixing things as pointed out and adding a few new scenes.
We probably need to do a scale or versioning so people can judge if they want to “look/reread”
So if first I was Alpha 0; I am now at Alpha 0.5?
Or something like that. I am absorbing feedback and trying to address, but it’s a multiple pass approach. I know I can’t address everything in a single pass.
A lot of this stuff needs to percolate in my brain for a few days to figure out the best approach.
