Yeah, this is actually why I originally called it the boiling point of water and didn’t give temperatures much in book 1.

Whatever the atmospheric pressure is in the abyss, the temperature is close to the vapor point.

Talk a little bit about this with the Inferno, but do seriously gloss it over.

Now as far as distance. I’ve tried not to translate that. I try to use leagues where ever possible.

This is because time is different, there are 20 hours in an Astlanian day, we don’t know what that correlates to in Earth time.

Leagues however are time and space invariant.

A league is the distance that an average height human can sustainably walk in one hour. Hour after hour. (The Boy Scout pace)

Thus the length of hours can change, but a league is a league.

I did discrete discreet with one of the earlier posts/messages, so it should be good as of today. I went through all of both today.

    Yes and yes.

He’s ticked because he likes to go by Lucifer aka the Morning Star (Mercury–btw this is a pet peeve of mine. There was a mistranslation from the Greek. It was an analogy saying that Satan had fallen from Heaven even as Lucifer (Mercury), the Morning Star, falls to Earth from the Heavens. It was not naming him it was comparing him )

He’s annoyed because a) it’s Hesseforthalus and b) Hesseforthalus knows who Sam is and is purposefully stealing his “fallen angel” schtick. In particular he is annoyed because Denubian’s should respect trademarks and copyrights.

As a side note, the reason Salvatore has such a “harmonic voice” is because as a Denubian Demon(TM) he has multiple mouths and can harmonize with himself (which is why pronouncing the true name of a Denubian is tricky if you don’t have multiple mouths to harmonize)

Nope, you are correct, I bombed that one.

Tom knew Gastrope’ had a link to Tizzy because they were summoned by Gastrope’ from Hellsprings Eternal.

Going to rework that. He should know, but take the opportunity to wonder WUWD (Waz Up Wid Dat)

    Thanks!

Yeah, I was thinking about this as well.

I think in his mental thoughts on leaving, his oath should be a consideration.

The thing to keep in mind, Talarius behavior and that of many people in the 2 Churches is the result of the negative influence of Excrathadorus Mortis. That’s a big part of the darkness that Tiernon and Torean are trying to discover.

There are other agents influencing stuff as well, and thinking on this, a lot of what was going on with Sentir Fallon was the influence of Excrathadorus Mortis. He was deeply affected by it, and that explains a lot of the things he’s done/permitted, after killing Orcus.

The decision to work with Aodh & Lillith etc was a different story since that was before the dagger.

    Super catch!

Yes, exactly what “powers” a Knight Rampant or Paladin has, has always been a bit wishy washy even in my own mind.

I actually need to go back and lookup exactly what a holy knight can do. I do have it written down somewhere, but I haven’t looked at it in a very very very very long time.
These crop up across chapters

alter vs altar (sooooo many of these)
OK, apparently don’t know how to spell altar. Sheesh.
employee vs employ
Went through and not seeing anything wrong here.

employee is a person that you employ. Not seeing that wrong, at least not in alpha-1, might have been fixed in that pass.

Good Usirus! Do I ever overuse the word wonder! I suspect that is the predominant feeling in the book.

    Time for a thesaurus.

Really odd that spell checker did not get this numerus isn’t a word that I know of.

    rod vs Rod
This goes to my whole random acts of capitalization issue…

In this case, I think, but am verifying that if I am talking about a name it is caps, if its generic its not.

Thus “the Rod of Tiernon” or “the Rod member” (he’s a member of the Rod, not a rod.

similarly, when referring to the Rod of Tommus or he waved the Rod above his head.

vs “user your rod to do this” (it’s a rod, not necessarily “the Rod (of Tommus)

But I admit I am on thin ground with this.

“He said he pursued and archdemon into the Abyss.” –> an archdemon
Also, in bk2 there was a lot of shifting between archdemon and achaedemon or some such. I didn’t see that in this book.
Yeah, its a question of who was talking. I need to back and look at who was using archaedemon in previous books.

I am sure there are some people out there who say daemon as well.

I do know that liliths PA/Chamberlan/Chief of Stff prefers that spelling. He’s actually famous in his own right. His name is Cron. Although out of deference to his mistriss he does not capitalize his name and just goes by “cron” it turns out she can be rather sensitive to such cases.

    in reply to: alpha 0-Chapter 128 #5773

    I suspect as much.

Goal, however, is to challenge complacency!

However, if the book comes out say Jan 1 as it is looking (I hope), then they shall be filled with yuletide yor! Yes?

    in reply to: Alpha1 – Chapter 130 – The Inferno #6334

    Seriously obtuse/obscure reference.

Talking to empty chairs? ==> Clint Eastwood 2012 Republican National Contention==> Director ==> Sully (2016 movie about Captain Chelsey Sullenberger, the only person to ever actually do a successful ‘water landing’ of a commercial passenger jet)

I liked the movie despite the “Tizzy-ness” of the director :d/

I think I am spending too much time with Demons and Djinn. Both love doing obnoxious references to see if people get them.

Nope, it did. Never done a QR before.

Tom felt a tingle from his rod alerting him to the activation…. – you might want to think about rewording this sentence – I started laughing when I read this, I thought I slipped into reading a badly written porn novel
#-o

Yeah, I searched, found, read, thought the exact same thing, and then read your suggestion fully. Yep!

Going with “Tom felt a vibration from his rod alerting him to the activation..”

is that better or should I rework some more?
I’m just going to link back to this post of Alpha0’s general spelling errors since several were not fixed for Alpha1.

Thanks, completely missed most of that…
Small thing – description of Gaius & Gadius armor in Chapter 124

In this chapter you describe the armor as:

    Gauis – black ivory chainmail

    Gadius – ivory chainmail

This is different from the descriptions in bk2.

    Gadius = iridescent chain mail
Sir Gadius and Peace Bringer solidified on the shore of the small island along the coast of Norelon, en route to Keeper’s City. Gadius pulled his helmet off, placing it under one arm as he moved to a large rock to rest. His iridescent chain mail rattled under his surcoat as he sat. Peace Bringer wandered over to a patch of tasty-looking grass and began munching.
Gaius – obsidian chain mail & black leather
“However do they keep these smoothly paved streets so clean?” Gaius asked Gadius, gesturing at the boulevard of clean white stone pavement, curbs and planters. His obsidian chain mail and black leather gauntlets made a sharp contrast to the white stone as his arm swept out.

Two knights of near identical height and weight, one with alabaster skin and fair hair dressed in shimmering white mail and a white tabard trimmed in silver, the other with a deep midnight complexion and tightly cut, military style black curly hair, dressed in obsidian black chain mail with a black tabard trimmed in gold. Both tabards were emblazoned with the Rod’s symbol, as were their great cloaks.

To confirm, I got the colors right, it was the ivory/obsidian difference yes?

The thing is, they reverse colors in unicorn form. The chainmail is actually unicorn horn (their own–it’s part of themselves)

So it comes down to what unicorn horn is made of/looks like, which is actually none of those things but…

So the black knight is a white unicorn and the white knight is a black unicorn. FYI. So Gaius is a white knight on a white unicorn and Gadius is a black knight on a black unicorn.

You know somewhere I wrote up the mating habits of unicorns, which is pretty weird. Have I posted that anywhere I wonder? Just remembering this. Wondering where it is?

    Ahh,

I think I really get the problem. I think my use of iridescent in book 2 was wrong. In bright sunlight it appears iridescent because it’s very white/luminous and refractive.

In the Inferno, it’s not so iridescent, need a better word/description.

Same basically true for the blackish armor.
