MemberIt would be so much more convenient if we could buy EPUBs of the books, which we could then quote verbatim with copy-paste.

MemberRemember that the Sentir Fallon dialogue contains lies and misdirection, and that he’s well enough covered by his position (it’s also his job to keep the lower saints ignorant of the big picture) that he doesn’t really necessarily feel the need to be consistent in his lies and misdirection, even if that would be neater.

My perspective of the situation is that TV programming is so frustratingly bad that I’ve had no problems living without a TV set for the last 10 years.
Good thing you can get The West Wing, The Wire, the first seasons of Dexter and House MD, Firefly, MASH, the House of Cards UK/US, Party Down, etc. on your average iPad.Mikey

Not even for the chance to score with whomever had scorned his advances previously, or been out of his reach?

Does it have scenes as good as this?
Do you really think it is fair to put stuff up against the Wire?
Do you do Netflix?
I unsubbed after having watched everything interesting available on the local edition of Netflix.
Fair? After watching enough of a series to feel that I’ve gotten a representative sample, I ask myself did the writers and producers fully subscribe to H. L. Mencken’s maxim
No one in this world, so far as I know—and I have researched the records for years, and employed agents to help me—has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby.
and subsequently made the conscious (note the correct usage of the word “conscious”) decision to disrespect me as a member of their audience.

Member
So where would Tom find one of those? Lying around in the attic? How believable would that be. :-”
How would Reggie have not mentioned the World Gate trip to the moon to Tom yet?
Sure, Reggie is in heaven, but kids of seventeen would still want to reach out to their parents, so they won’t grieve for decades.

MemberHand the government a kilogram of gold for a couple of agents to go see their parents, pass on a couple of letters, and explain that they’re definitely not dead, just involved in something top secret – sorry for those funeras, but they had to “die” to stay safe, it’ll be safe to come back to meet you in a few years…
”Oh, Hi Tom! Back from the Abyss so soon? I figured you be there at least a decade before coming back. You father (the scientist) said you’d be very busy fighting gods and such.”
That would be satisfying.Mikey
MemberCouldn’t force myself through more than an episode of the Star Gate series.
The movie was an OK way to kill a paid sick leave day.

The concept you mentioned earlier sounded promising, and I wanted to pour in some input through the miracle of YouTube, so it can all slosh around for a while before settling.
I’ll add a trailer for a documentary about Finland’s 2015 entrant into the Eurovision song contest:

Well, Vaselle could contribute by cooking up some Abyssal zombie napalm in the workshop.

Can anyone control an outer plane so long as they have enough mana? Is that the primary reason for worshipers? To gather enough mana to claim it, shape it, and maintain it?
Not so much claim it as “create it” and yes, the mana is why they need worshipers.
The Doom experiment was a way to get mana without requiring worshipers.
So when Tom, Völund and Phaestus get to discussing things with Farsooth Goretusk, they come up with a significantly more economical way to set up an outer plane, as an informational / computational construct with significant abstraction, instead of faithfully emulating every physical process.
That way Tom can offer a budget afterlife by altering the computational speed at will, which wouldn’t be noticeable from the inside. He can store useful people, and pop them out of the can JIT to be recycled or ascended.
Not a god to be worshipped, but the manager of the finest free B&B in the localverse. It should be worth the minimal cost, since it makes recruitment so much cheaper.
