hmmm, how would we go about signing blood contract over the internet? Smear the blood on the computer? Also what would stop people from cheating and using someone else’s blood? The blood all over the computer might interfere with the reading itself too.

Also my soul is currently out on loan to the army so it might be a little while before I can sign it over to someone else.

Realistically though his prior power level likely no longer has any relevance, due to his siphoning large amounts of god-mana from the priest link. One can only imagine what that will do to him and his power level as he is the only one know to have pulled it off. (largely thanks to the fact that the Rod cheated and gave him the tools he needed to do it with) It’s always nice when cheaters get their comeuppance.

well this thread derailed fast lol, I’m actually of the opinion that neither Rupert’s nor Tom’s power level was seen in the initial scan based on the fact that Rupert sleeps and wouldn’t have been moving through the palace. Also they’re both staying in Lenamare’s wing of the palace which could have been missed in the scan due to the shock of seeing three Archaedemons in one place. It is also possible that just Rupert was missed as he was a stationary green dot and not a mobile one and Tom was out of range of the mirror due to the fact that he had been spending his nights in a secluded room in the bowels of the palace to practice, it is never specified as to how many floors the mirror can see through other than it would show a representation of the person or object with demonic colors showing corruption levels. What if the mirror can only see the palace from the ceiling to the ground and not any of the basement levels or catacombs beneath the palace?

I was actually looking around for a thread where we could request to be beta readers, is it just not a thing yet? Also I am very much interested in being a beta reader lol.

actually you might be able to build on Talarius’s inner monolog as you progress through the book and his indoctrinated hatred of demons starts to crumble under the new information he is being hit with. Then the crushing guilt that would come with the knowledge that perhaps not all of the evil beings he had destroyed throughout his career as a Knight Rampant had actually been evil and he might just be an exceptionally gifted mass murderer.

honestly with the depth some are going into for the corrections they’re sending you I don’t really know if you will actually need an editor at all, I assume that you are already contracted or something with her so you probably have to send this one in, but it might be an option for book three to just use your handy dandy beta demons, particularly if you are able to get a prototype BetaDemons Anonymous program out to streamline how recommended changes are sent in.

That sounds like a terrible idea, I was thinking more like a standard calendar with maybe the major holidays listed like you get, well, people used to get anyways, from stores. At least when GRRM kills off a character they don’t tell you about it in previous books, although I have pretty much stopped reading his stuff. I don’t care for waiting 5-6 years in between book releases and then having to pay through the nose for the next one when it finally gets released.

2 maybe 3 years for a moderately priced book or even 20-25$ for a hardcover copy of a book from a good author that does solid work is fine, but I can’t stand waiting so long that I have to go back and reread the entire series to even know whats going on. Sometimes it feels like its an excuse to reuse plot twists and drag it out for 14 books when it could have been ended on 5 or 6.

I.E. Wheel of Time.

Ah okay, if you have the space for it allocated already then it should be fine, that’s really how I prefer it gets done anyways, easier to maintain your immersion in the story that way.

I like his introspective moments, it adds a nice duality to him, it shows that he really has absolutely no idea what is going on but feels that if he lets that show everything that is going on will just blow up in his face. Meanwhile the others see him as practically a demonic god because of the stunts he is able to pull off, not understanding that the stuff he is able to do is likely possible for others, they just were taught that it wasn’t possible and wouldn’t have ever thought of trying it.

As for the other characters, introspective moments might help add some interest in them, but it would have to be added in with more action scenes as reading inner monologs and descriptions of new locations or vessels might cause people to skip scenes.

you could have him try to learn more animagery while he is in the cave in an attempt to stop feeling overstuffed with mana. Another dragon maybe?

Make a new thread that has a title referencing the chapters and continuity error?

E.g. Continuity error Chapters 1+8:

issue in question in the actual post part.

Just an idea of course but it should work.

More Tom early would help people stay interested, but doesn’t have to necessarily mean adding in Tom based filler. More arguing with Talarius would likely be amusing, if for no other reason that having Tizzy work him into conniptions, but isn’t all that important to the story itself. I was thinking that by cutting out some of the reaction scenes early on it would, by default, end up with more of the larger scenes coming earlier on.

Those possible additions to the end were really just ideas for other places to end it so it has more of a draw for the next book. As is the big climax is effectively just Tom calling Lilith a whiny bitch and commandeering most of one of her smaller armies. No reaction from her is given, but we all know that it is probably going to be a exceptionally violent reaction, which isn’t much of a cliffhanger. Generally speaking it’s best to have the middle books in a series end with either a potential conclusion, in case you decide you don’t want to continue the series, or after a major conflict that leaves the state of affairs murky with high levels of tension for the people involved. That’s why I felt Tom and Rupert being outed to Jenn and apparently the Alfar would be a reasonable cut off. It would leave things tense and have the reader wanting to see how it plays out, also you could add in a reaction scene from Lilith finding out what Tom said about her before he effectively stole 900 demons from her command. Odds are he probably killed several people in the Courts with that move.

Yup, pretty much nailed WoT there. Another series like that is Goodkinds Sword of Truth, I enjoyed reading them but probably won’t revisit the series, I wasn’t happy with it lasting 14 books and then just ending all of a sudden. It went from feeling drawn out a bit too much to all of a sudden it’s over and leaves you feeling kinda unsatisfied.
One gambit that I feel he overused but is still a good plot device was there were numerous times where one character needed information that another character had to solve something and while searching for a way to fix the problem would pass within a mile or two of the person that had the solution, missing each other entirely.

I did love the Belgariad though.
