Well you have obviously got this all figured out.
“Fast Ship? You’ve never heard of the Millennium Falcon?”
“Should I have?”
“It’s the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 10.4907975471 Galactic Light Years.”BradymanMemberSo, another question about Shamans. They are able to contact the spirits of their ancestors. From what I can tell, these ancestors are like anyone else who dies without a deity, in that their animus just kind of dissipates into the world. This seems very similar to how dying permanently in the abyss is described. Would a powerful enough shaman be able to summon the spirits of fallen D’orcs from Doom? Obviously they couldn’t be revived, but they could be useful for advice or for their skills, much like any ancestral spirit.
BradymanMemberWow, that sucks.
BradymanMemberI know its really late, but I just noticed this typo.
Somewhere around location 8718 in the kindle edition. chapter 63
“‘We’d like to think of you as our friends,’ Maelen said very seriously.”
Should say “‘We’d like to think of you as our friend,’ Maelen said very seriously.”
or “‘We’d like to think of ourselves as your friends,’ Maelen said very seriously.”BradymanMemberThen why was Melissance so upset? he made the right choice. There was nothing he could do. Sure, it sucks that he blamed her, but the end result would have been the same.
Was she just mad about his attitude?BradymanMemberJust checked the book.
Melissance claims that she couldn’t cure herself or her flock because the knights interdicted her. aprox. location 8086 in the kindle edition of Apostles of Doom
Location 8119 AoD ( sorry I don’t know the page number) Melissance says, “Great- he gets defeated and dragged to hell, and you can’t wait to plunge into the Abyss after him. Me, I get bitten by a hasty vampire and turned into a ghoul- something for which we have many rituals to cure- and you are all hands off. Wacky Melissance, she damned herself by her actions!”
BradymanMemberAt this point, I have two theories.
1) Tizzy is the oldest demon, and where the legends of the concordenax come from. I doubt he was ever mortal. He was probably from some ancient race, possibly from before the current generation of gods. He probably annoyed the wrong person, and was cast into the abyss. He then spent millennia just doing his Tizzy thing, as other demons were created, and has forgotten his origins hundreds of times over. Any legend of the concordenax as some super powerful demon were either strait up lies, or someone trying to use the legend to gain fame. Any one doing that would have been quickly defeated and eaten, thus the concordenax has disappeared.
2) Tizzy actually was the concordenax, but he made himself forget for some reason, sealing any memories and power into the form of a fiend, probably for the exact reasons Tizzy just gave.BradymanMemberShe claimed that she could have cured herself if it weren’t for the interdiction.
Obviously, even if Talarius believed she couldn’t be cured, he still wronged her greatly, even if just by being a dick to his dying girlfriend and victim-blaming.
It just seemed weird that he was the only one to ever mention the disease being incurable.
I honestly can’t wait for Talarius ( hopefully with Tom and some D’orcs in tow) to meet up with the crew of the Inferno. I expect a lot of violence. I can just imagine, them thinking he’s been corrupted by Tom, him upset that they came to rescue him, Melissance mad at him, Sam still mad at his copycat, the orstemothians trying to arrest everyone, the D’orcs mad at the lawyers, and Tom just standing there going, “what the fuck” and maybe saying hi to Sam. Ooh and maybe an etonian avatar could be there as Tom’s guest for some reason.
It would be the funniest clusterfuck ever.
Oh, and of course Tizzy would have to be there, making everything worse somehow.I don’t see how the meeting could possibly end well for Talarius. If he hadn’t changed, Melissance would be pissed at him for what he did, and the knights would be happy to rescue their friend. But he has changed. She’ll probably still be extremely pissed and most likely won’t believe him, even if the first thing he does upon seeing her is prostrate himself and apologize, and the knights will think he’s possessed if he starts explaining what he has learned.
BradymanMemberOnly animancers no animasters?
BradymanMemberIts already at the saint level. Hilda can do it. Plus Melissance claimed she could do it, and she was just a local priestess. Also, Hilda can design her own rituals, so it shouldn’t need special permission to make, maybe to distribute if it were forbidden to tell mortals for some reason.
BradymanMemberHe was probably checking on a stash or field. He needs to get his cookie ingredients somewhere.
BradymanMemberWas all of Tom’s entourage going through training? I know some of them are, but Rupert is obviously off-plane and Estrebius is usually busy with Vaselle. I know some of the young D’orcs are part of the training as well as Antefalken, but are Boggy and Reggie? What about Talarius? I know he went down there, but is he being trained to help run things, or was he just watching because he was bored?
BradymanMemberI know this will come up in future books, but I’m asking anyway, hoping for a hint or something.
So, I know that Orcus’ customers can open up the Oubliette and drop their enemies/family members/friends down into Tartarus from anywhere in the multiverse, but how do they restrain them at the bottom?
Is it just that D’orcs are bad-asses combined with the fact that whoever just fell down an infinitely deep hole to hell will be disoriented and cut-off from their god-pools and outer planes? Because I can easily believe that a team of D’orcs can beat up anyone as long as god-pools are out of the picture ( and if they aren’t you just need more D’orcs), but it seems a little risky. Is there any type of machinery or magical apparatus installed to help with the containment, or is it all done by hand?Is there something about Tartarus that blocks plane jumping? Because it seems like and god or avatar should be able to follow any and all links to beings outside the outer planes. Like how Sentir was able to travel to the abyss and back. He obviously had a link to a mortal plane that he traveled to, to leave the abyss since he couldn’t go straight back to Tierhallon. A god should be able to follow his links to his mortal priests and escape pretty quickly.
I don’t think Tom has made a portal inside Tartarus yet, and even if he has, his Rod is probably an exception. On a related note, since Tom runs Tartarus now, he should be able to grant people access to the Oubliette. I doubt he would, but there’s nothing to stop him from doing so. I can just imagine someone messing with Gastrope and Jen, and him turning pale and freaking out, only to open the oubliette under them, sucking them into Tartarus, while pissing Jen off for saving their lives.
Oh, and I can totally see Rupert casting every enemy he defeats into Tartarus for fun and practice.
BradymanMemberWell, I’m glad that all my questions have planned answers in the books, but now I want the new books even more
BradymanMemberAlso, Lenamare mentions skew space. Is this a generic term for strange space, or is it a specific plane?
Could a demon or God access this trap safely?
Is there any way of breaking the stasis or is Lenamare right about only a reverse teleport spell being able to do it? -
