Yes, unfortunately, we have no good source of information for that in other parts of the localverse; other than Nysegard and well that place is screwed up as it is.

In the rest of the localverse our POV’s are all orcs, who by and large were not that into the Nyjyer Ennead.

But it happened on a lot of planes Sutekh had been setting this up for some time.

Of course I say ‘unforunately’ but I am pretty sure no one is voting for even more POV’s that are not immediately tied to the main story….

Will take a look at it.

I think the second scene was written before the first scene and I may have forgotten what exactly was said in the second scene.

I.e. Alpha-0 had the second scene but not the first, I added the earliest scene with the Council after alpha-0

    Very interesting point.

Neither the Rod nor Oorstemoth know much about the Abyss, so they may not know how unusual this really is.

Sammael would obviously not take note since he’s seen the place freeze over, which as he said was quite impressive.

But I think it would be worth mentioning, even though they may not know how “weird” it is, the fact that these are the ONLY clouds they’ve seen/detected in the Abyss and they are all around this kooky volcano should elicit some response.

The real reason they don’t mention it, of course, is because I forgot about the storm clouds! ](*,) And the perpetual storm!
What about there age, for example what happened with the shaman Karth Death Cheater, he’s said to be extremely old so after his D’Orcing and gets reborn is he somehow younger or in his Prime.
Historically in terms of creating D’Orcs, an “old orc” would be rather rare. Horrible way for an orc to die, old/infirm/in bed. shudder Imagine the shame! How humiliating!

It’s only his body that was infirm, his spirit was still as strong as ever. His D’Orc form will/was shaped by people’s memories of him and expectations based on other D’Orc shamans….

And then…as I’m trying to figure out how to squeeze in–the ceremony was serious overkill–as many have noted–he’s going to be a kickass shaman!
Tom didn’t steal mana as a demon. He took it because he had a item of Tiernon (the arrowheads) which were designed to siphon mana. From the way Book 1 played out I get the feeling that anyone capable of holding the mana (okay, maybe demons and gods only) would have been able to use the arrowheads to siphon from Tiernon.
Presumably any animage that thought of doing it and had enough power could have done it. By and large I would suspect most would not have thought about it given cultural bias and familiarity with gods. Meaning, even if you thought about it, the thought of potential consequences would give one pause.
We know, that humans of Astlan have a very, very low chance of being turned into an Demon (by chance), I think we heard that in the first book.
But more important thing, since being turned into an undead severs* the connection to Tiernon, I imangine turning Demon** would do that too.

    * I got the Impression of an automatic hacking protrection against the undead**.
** So since Tom a demon was able to steal the god mana, it might actually be possible.
Yeah, I am pretty sure most gods have unlife detection built in as part of the consecration of the priest. Unlife would break the consecration…see Holy Water etc

Demonic conversion? Well, if Holy Water works on demons, and for most gods, it would then it would probably also break the consecration of the priest.

That timeline actually has a lot of hints.

I’ve added to it recently, but mainly as extensions in time that reveal stuff I did not want revealed earlier (like Mount Doom)…but there are hints about Exador, Ramses, Tisdale, Oorstemoth even in the very first timeline from Book 1.

Actually, it is “recreation” it’s like taking a break, yeah, that’s what I meant…

    :-”

I meant re-creation as in re-create beginning anew hmm looking this up to be sure

OK, this is not helpful Merriam-Webster

    Definition of recreate
    recreatedrecreating
    transitive verb
: to give new life or freshness to : refresh
    intransitive verb
    : to take recreation

they really are the same word rēcreation and rĕcreation are the same thing from the same place; So rĕcreational facilities are there to allow you to rēcreate yourself.

It’s very funny how the pronunciation has changed we do not rĕcreate we rēcreate.

Here is the answer (thanks to the Oracle of Google)

So, pre-twentieth century we would have done re-creation to tell people that you need to use the long form of e, however, in modern times it is acceptable to use contextual inference.

That being said, I think I’ll do the hyphenate. It think it adds clarity quickly and you don’t have to stop and think about it.

They screwed up across the board.

However, from Tierhallon’s POV they did it over the entire localverse (where Sentir Fallon holds direct sway) and presumably several other worlds.

What we have not seen yet is the connection between the Nyjyr Ennead and the Storm Lords. This comes from the Dark Apostle and his god, Sutekh.

    Sutekh is out to get the Nyjyr Ennead, his game extends beyond just the Five Siblings;
He’s also a connection point to the Knights of Chaos.
Good question.

My guess is that D’Orcing, Demoning etc cuts the bindings to their deity.

    1) The person has to be killed and their soul sent to the Abyss. My guess is that most spells sever all links to the individual but not sure.
    2) Once they incarnate in the Abyss, their link to the god is broken. They would still be able to do lesser priestly spells, the sort that priests in the abyss can do. E.g. Melissance & The Inferno

If they stay there long enough it won’t ever return. If they are only there for a short while and go to a different world, something would probably need to be done to reattach the link.

Now, this might be problematic for a variety of reasons. The first of which is that for many religions being a demon is an excommunicable condition. I mean, if being a ghoul gets you excommunicated? Sure being a demon would. My guess is that they would have changed/invalidated your encryption keys. Unless they are really stupid gods…

NOW: All that being said, there very well may be, and in fact, I am almost positive there are some “Dark Gods” who have demon avatars…so yes they could.

The point being is that unless all parties are “OK” with demon priests/avatars, then becoming a demon would end up getting you cut off from your god(des).

We have a Temple of Doom!

Remember that’s where Tal Gor and the shamans showed up. It’s also the front room to the World Gate

The sending them to the Abyss is what completes/seals the transformation binding them as a demon. They get a material form on the material planes and then are “Bound to the Abyss” (using the title of another book that came out the same month as Book 1) It was very interesting to see how Amazon was always doing side by sides of the two books.

I think of it is grounding them in Immortality, and is the differentiater with other spells that seek to bind spirits to material form.

So we’ve talked about the scene headings in terms of the table of contents.

Are they helpful in switching context between scenes? Remembering what is happening/where?

I do know they are very helpful for me in locating prior events to check/revise them. In particular as I go back to the HH to see what was said there, I have to check every single ~ and read a few lines to know where I am.

Having the location and time is proving very useful to this. Not sure though it it helps on basic reading.

One of the biggest complaints about HH (and AoD) is that frequent POV switching, the “realtime TV show editing’ my hope was that by using these headers people would be able to get their bearings faster as we swapped scenes. Much like scene settings in a script.

In particular, I am thinking that after this book goes to editor and prior to the release of this book I release a revised version of the HH with headings like these. (Free upgrade for people that delete it from their device and then re-download it from Amazon–you can do this in the manage kindle content) I might even do this for Book 1, although it is not so critical there.

Thoughts? Would that be worthwhile, or should I leave it as is and getting typing on the next book(s)?

Is the Tom balance better in Book 3? A lot of people were ticked about that.
