I will live in human crying and joy, in his sorrow and fear I live, in his goodness and evil, in justice and injustice, in weakness and strength. As a human I shall live in the humankind forever, and for that reason I do not yearn for sacrifices in my tomb, and immortality for my name. This was written by Sinuhe, the egyptian, he, who lived alone all of the days of his life.”
Ooh, all very Zen. I like this a lot.
Going to check local used bookstores…actually going to check my own shelves, I swear I have seen this book, and may have even bought it at some point (I used to buy a lot of books I never managed to get too)

Member
The link is between Orcus and a Doomalogue. The link follows the lowest energy path by default (I.e. shortest possible line/path).The link will try to find a different path if the normal shortest is broken, but there is a limit to how much mana the link has in it to follow a path.At some point, the originator of the link would need to add more power to the link to get it to try higher cost paths.Like cranking up the wattage on a radio station.
I want to clarify this:
1: Orcus/the wand had links to all the Doomalogues.
2: Orcus had a link to Mount Doom
3: Upon Interdiction, all the links, except the one to Etterdam’s were severed.
4: It’s possible that his Doom link did fail over to route through Etterdam’s Doom, but then that one went offline, it’s link cut.
5: At that point, there was no other link/path for him and the wand to reconnect to Doom following other links he had.
6: Given time, he might have been able to force a link (by concentrating and boosting the power) to another Doomalogue in the same galaxy, or galactic neighborhood.
7: We don’t know that he didn’t try, all we know is, he was unable to do anything to save himself.
8: Sentir Fallon was gunning for him with EM so he didn’t have time to work something out like sending one of his D’Orcs out of the Interdiction and then using his link to the D’Orc as a relay to get off plane and back to Doom
9: In hindsight, now, Tom knows to do this. Orcus did not think of it in time, he was under stress. Learning experience.
10: As you will see in the next release, Beragamos berates himself for not seeing the same thing, even as Orcus did not.The Author Guy
MemberIt’s all due to context and what they are discussing.
They’ve always been discussing the actions of Tom/Orcus. So they are in the awkward do I refer to you in the third person when you called yourself Orcus, or do I refer to you as you. I.e. they are trying to balance talking to Tom about Orcus’s actions (which were Tom’s actions if you believe Tom is Orcus and not an actual heir).
So, some of them are trying to treat Orcus as a different person, in deference to Tom’s confusion, but they are looking at someone who looks like a younger Orcus so it’s confusing.
However, they have not been talking (at least that is recorded) to Rupert about the actions of Dis Pater.
I am also still going to need to work this out. Prior Rupert existed before Tartarus, but he was not involved in Tartarus for some reason. Perhaps because he was busy playing god with the Olympians? Running his own Underworld–OK, this could get tricky if I have to have a spin off series for Rupert reclaiming Dis Pater’s domain.
The Author Guy
MemberHmm
Dis Pater did not have to die at Etterdam.
He could have continued on in his own realm, his own part of the Abyss, and only Phoenixed very recently to become Rupert.
Nargh.
The trouble is, I know how Rupert came about, but I really don’t have a good plan for what he was doing prior to his birth, in his last life, my assumption was always that he (whatever his name was) died on Etterdam as well or several other iterations of ideas I’ve had.
The Author Guy
MemberWell, he is Lord of the Underworld.
That may not be an outer plane, it could be the Abyss, Purgatory or Limbo, which could be interdicted.
None are places I would particularly want to spend time, but the greek underworld wasn’t supposed to be a great place, and Charon is already cruising the Abyss on the Styx.
What I really don’t know is Dis Pater vs Hades I need to get a better handle on that. Both had underworlds, as did Orcus,in fact, Orcus, like Hades was a place, Orcus the place was the place where oath breakers went, you know, one of the special places that’s been reserved.
Perhaps Dis Pater is in Limbo/Purgatory because he runs a staging ground for reincarnation.

Member
Important (for me ) question: Orcus is/was the son of an god.
God and Pantheons are so old, they did multiple Phoenix Cycles, so they no longer even know, what really happened (see Athena and her birth). So how many Phoenix cycles experienced Orcus/Tom?
Or was this really his first rebirth? If not, why are they all so surprised he is back? Zeus was angry about the Orcus slaying. Why should’nt he make shure, he comes back (especially so that Tartarus gets an warden again)?
Who does even know Orcus is Zeus grandson. The 5S do, do the Alvar god know?
Well, if Orcus had been normally slain on the material planes, he, like the orcs would have re-materialized in the Abyss, Mount Doom. None did.
Therefore, he was “permanently slain” you can’t Phoenix Cycle if you are permanently slain, because your animus has been destroyed. Hephaestus knew what happened at Mount Doom etc. So he would have gone to Zeus to bring this up.
Now, on the other side of the equation, Zeus doesn’t know that Orcus and the Five Siblings conspired to lock Eris and Aetherus up in Tartarus.
Orcus had Phoenixed Cycled before, however, the marriage/wedding and creation of Tartarus happened during the last 100,000 years, i.e. last cycle for Orcus, this cycle for Hephaestus.
Dis Pater/Rupert first showed up after a Phoenix Cycle at some point in the past.
All the Olympians know this, and their related pantheons. The 5S do, and yes, Net knows.
I will also point out from the appendix and the library on this site. “No one” (of the scholars) know for sure who the birth mother of the 5S is. However, they (the scholars) speculate that it is Danu, the alvaran (and others) Gaia/Mother Earth goddess. The one who is plotting with Net.
It’s also important (for me as well) not to assume that all the Alvaran gods are elven based, they’ve just been doing this so long, with their preferred followers that people sort of assume this, and in fact they take elven forms for the elves.

MemberI am still thinking about this.
The principle problem, as I see it is if they worship Dis Pater, how do they not know about the association with Orcus and the D’Orcs? At least someone.
Given that Ariel and his sister take turns serving as Elders of the Grove, and he was battling D’Orcs 4,000 to 5,000 yeas ago, this gets awkward, perhaps, I just need to come up with a rationale for this.

Member
How about Aton and Ammon? I suppose you’ve cast Ammon as Ra, though.
It’s quite interesting, last afternoon a friend, who I also do work with called and wanted to get together to catch up and coordinate on work we are doing together and then watch a movie, eat take out and drink vodka….so I didn’t get much writing done but….
We watched Gods of Egypt, which I had not seen in theaters due to ‘abysmal’ reviews.
It was a very interesting/different take on the Egyptian gods. I think for me the biggest problem was the editing, it seemed like a lot of transition scenes were missing, so things would jump and you’d be like “what happened? what are they doing now?” Like the movie should be another hour longer.
Anyway, it was rather campy, snarky and I did rather enjoy it, non-soberly. It also gave me a number of interesting ideas to play with, reminding me very much of how modern views of gods are very different than the ancients view. If you look at historically, the gods were very fallible, very troubled and screwed up all the time. They were really more like super heroes, and as such Marvel’s Cinematic Thor is probably closer to how people used to see their gods.
They were also the soap operas and telenovela around the fire at night as told by the story tellers. If the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans had had paparazzi (and cameras) they’d have been the main topic of the tabloids.
I’ve always, of course, known this, at least since my teens, but the movie was actually a good refresher on this.
Anyway back to your question:
Atum-Fierd is also known as Amon-Fierd aka Amon-Ra or Aton/Aten, Ammon, Ra. The variances in names are due to both cultures/languages and the Phoenix Cycle, he’s been through it more than most.

Does that count?
I mean he was killed by a wizard name Tisdale but he was still 600ish and probably killed lots of people before that.
Also existential dread would still mean something for these knights.
They have to be doing other things then forever training.
We not talking Valhalla and the einherjar
Dark Apostle was a necromancer and priest of Sutekh
Sutekh: God of Chaos, Change, the Desert and Storms.
These days he looks a lot like Gerard Butler.
They have war games against the forces of the other Siblings and probably a few other friendly pantheons. They can in fact go places where they can kill each other and get beamed back to their heaven.
And they saw combat during Ragnarok.

This is very weird, I open the PDF in my PDF editor and you are right, I can’t copy and paste, but I look at the properties and it says that is allowed.
I need people to be able to copy and place because that’s the easiest way to find things, if you paste enough exact text, I then search the entire document for it.
I am going to try re-PDF-ing it.

MemberOK,
Found the problem to be in checking the “Bitmap fonts if not can’t embed fonts” which apparently turned everything into a picture.
Office PDF software is apparently very crappy about embedding fonts. I know that some people have complained about the alpha pdf fonts being crappy. This is because they are not all being embedded properly.
Going to work on that for subsequent releases.
For now, I have replaced the current pdf with a version that does not bitmap fonts, so it is selectable/cut and pastable.
