One more evil idea. Mind Reavers.

I noticed a few bits of odd behavior when the submarine abyss explorers encountered Melisande. Nothing super obvious, but people were a bit too agreeable. Add to its Talarus’s own odd behavior with Melisande original infection. I wonder if the “demon” who married Melisande is actually a mind reaver. It might explain Talarius behavior and also why Melisande’ went and married the demon as well.

Of course, as none of the demons on anybody’s side seem aware of this fact (if it is a fact), the situation seems ripe for something very bad to go wrong once everybody meets in person.

And why are the worlds all multi-species. Is this because multiple pantheons weighed in, or is there another reason.

The localverse refers to worlds that exist in the same universe, but not the same planet?

In a high tech localverse, the various peoples (orcs, humans, elves, etc) travel in starships, colonize planets and this basically explains how all the worlds in the localverse are colonized and why the core race are found it lots of places. Presumably high tech localverses have many worlds, although we have no idea how many different worlds are habitable.

What about magic heavy/low science universes. They too have localverses. They too have the same races sharing multiple worlds in the localverse. How did this happen. Presumably some of these worlds were colonized by others? If yes, how was the fallow world found so it could be colonized. Or did the gods just create the same races on all the viable worlds.

Presumably whichever force (colonizer or gods) that colonized the world also created the connections that allow different localverse worlds to know to contact each other (and how).

There are 666 doomalogs out there and Tom has only connected 1 of them to this point (Nysgard). Which means another doomalog can be activated soon. Tom has indicated a preference to slow this down and keep to the magic side (vs the high tech side). That preference is not going to matter much… [-(

    Reasons
    1) The process is driven by mana availability. So each doomalog that is hooked up will eventually start contributing “net” mana to Mount Doom. That means the next doomalog can start opening up. And with all these doomalogs in operation, I suspect that mana availability will keep growing – and allowing faster and faster re-activation to occur. Of course, Tom can slow things down if he wishes except for…. :d/

    2) There is going to be a strong push from his followers to speed things up — to open up trade, reconnect scattered tribes and simply because the news that Orcus is back will encourage new shamans to seek out Doom. [-o< 3) Nysgard had a number of d'orcs. If the other doomalogs have even a couple of d'orcs each, that can add a lot of d'orcs to Mount Doom. After all, Tom only has 3,000 or so D'orcs today. Another thousand or two from the doomalogs would be a big boost. o:) 4) We already know that the tech world orcs are going to be in trouble (another book), so hard to see how Tom can refuse to help them #-o 5) The Lords of Chaos and the Elven Gods are going to be attacking orcs everywhere they can -- and Doom will need act even if not ready [-x 6) at least one doomalog has probably gone wrong in some way. We already know that one of Orcus's old minions went insane and took over when not properly supervised. I suspect it has happened again since then and Tom will feel obligated to fix the problem. ](*,) I am sure there are another 660 reasons, but the six above are good enough for me. :-({|=

Tiernen’s mistakes around Orcus and Sentir are really serious and there has to be a price. Ditto with the actions against Bast’s pantheon. However, philosophically the five siblings are actually pretty closely aligned with both organizations. So you have what should be natural allies instead ending up as rather hostile to each other. And this hostility is found at all levels including followers, priests, avatars and gods. It is a mess that will be really hard to fix in any meaningful way — and it needs to be fix if Ragnarok has restarted.

An apology is not going to work as it is not good enough. A groveling apology might be good enough for some, but is too damaging to the pride/ethos of the five siblings and would create more problems than it is worth through the shame it creates for that whole org.

What will be required is sacrifice. Tiernen has to lay it on the line in some obvious/earth shattering way if he is both to deliver a meaningful apology to Tomus/Bast’s pantheon and have the impact on his pantheon (gods, avatars, worshipers) that he needs to have in order to make the alliance stick for the rest of Ragnarok. I suspect only his death will have the required impact on all parties — and the equivalent symmetry to actually be justice in the eyes of all parties. Remember Tiernen is the god of Justice who broke his oath to the god of Oaths. Payback must be a bitch in that scenario.
