You also really haven’t done anything with the link between tom and his summoner in a while. I get that Tom hasn’t been summoned in a while, and probably won’t considering Damon has been scrying the Abyss, but Tom can certainly still use it.

I don’t know if this helps, but a lot of the short scenes that bounce around could be combined into one longer scene and that might make the book better. Keep the same action, just don’t write a page, move to another character and then come back. Just stick with the same character and keep going for a while. Temporally it might not make as much sense, but narratively it wouldn’t be so episodic.

I could be wrong here, but I think in a couple places you refer to Asmodean fighting the Demi-Urge rather than Sameal. When I reread, I will double check.

The book itself held my attention. Though I will be honest, It read a bit like book 6 of the Wheel of Time, wherin not much happens as we move toward book 7. There is a lot of shifting back and forth in place, a lot of new concepts are introduced, but nothing really happens to advance the plot.

Then a more important question. What is money? Gold and Gems seems banal. Mana & Animus? Is this where Orcus’s mana pool comes from? Is there a way to siphon mana off the sleepers?

Accidentally thought the title of this thread was “Snuggling”.

Something different happened to Lilith’s demon army? I bought the e-book on Amazon but never bothered to read it since I’d read the beta so many times. Hmmmm… I guess I know what my reading tonight will be.

I think you are over personalizing things. When you say “no one wants” you are basically talking about yourself and maybe a few of your friends. You have no other frames of reference than that.

While I have no interest in watching re-runs of “Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood” or “learning valuable life lessons” I am interested in good characters and interesting plot twists. I suppose it is the difference between being a mature reader and an immature one.

Mad I drove to work I had an idle thought. I wonder if Damien has balled / recorded any of his time in the abyss. I’m sure the Wizard Conciliation would be interested, but even more importantly I’m sure he would love to see Lenimar’s reaction.

Oh, I get that. I was just thinking that unless talarius was the person who found the sword itself, this being a version of “Heaven” and all, the Avatars up there could talk to any dead Knight Rampant just before Talarius. Samething goes for the corruption. Sure I get your point about praying and what not, but can the Avatars not just interview a dead high priest about rituals. And if his/her answers don’t satisfy, the avatar could go back another generation, and to the highpriest before them, ad infinitum. I’m just saying that in an infinite plane where people go when they die, you don’t necessarily only have to rely on the living.

One of the observations I’ve had reading the Beta 2 copy is this.

Hilda is digging up a lot of information. There is the sword, there is how the priests of Teirnon acted etc… in theory the Avatars are in a kind of heaven where the dead go when they’ve passed on. Someone there not simply ask about earth. Could they not just ask Talarius’s predecessor if he had the sword before Talarius, or ask the past generation of clergy about rights that have crept into the mainstream?
