Well, isn’t what LCSpartan described basically how saints are made? They’re not imagined as different when ascended so they retain a basic human shape, but I suspect they could shapeshift if needed.

So, theoretically, you could turn an army of normal humans into an army of weak demons-that-look-human, who wouldn’t be much more powerful than they were before, but you would have the advantage in that killing them would only send them to the abyss for re-summoning rather than to the outer planes for resurrection. Basically an immortal army.

    Yes, exactly; Canonization.

Which is why I was saying you would want to adjust the spells, the same is true with D’Orcing, they know exactly who/what they created.

Wizards generally don’t know what they are doing, when they encounter a tougher demon, they increase the level of their spells, which pours more mana into the demon making it more powerful.

Which is why Karth is going to be very powerful, they rather over did it on his creation and pumped an excessive amount of mana into his D’Orcing.

Is that ascension mana like fuel, or like a catalyst? Or does it define the size of his initial fuel tank?

Does the demon burn it later on, or does it define how much mana he can charge up from the environment?

I.e. is the demonic “leveling up” process about making one’s storage capacity greater and recharge more efficient?

Forgetting for the moment the whole “learning to wield and project power” part of things.

In the case of demon’s and D’Orcs it essentially defines the fuel tank…to some extent

It’s building the body and innate abilities (lightning tail, claws, teeth, hide) plus the fuel tank in a case like Tom’s

For the most part at least. We have to keep in mind that the vast majority of summoned demons don’t have spell casting abilities and so the “fuel tank” is used to power innate abilities. E.g. breath weapon, incubus abilities, innate fear.

The innate fear thing is basically a fear spell if we were in a game.

In the case of holy beings, they radiate an “awe” spell

Saints, however are are bit more standardized since there are no surprises like Lenamare got.

Oh, and the universal translation field is an innate ability.
